ABSTRACT Background Barrett's esophagus is the known precursor to esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), a cancer with poor prognosis. While endoscopic surveillance detects early dysplasia and prevents progression, most Barrett's esophagus patients do not progress to EAC, leading to invasive and costly surveillance.

Patients with isolated LPS demonstrated a lower likelihood of EGJ disruption, pathologic GERD, and abnormal Milan score. The Milan score performed similarly well in the identification of GERD in both LPS and typical symptoms. The Milan score could therefore be used as an upfront test in LPS patients.
