A Role for High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) Release in the Pathogenesis of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, Volume 37, Issue 11, November 2025.
Incubation of esophageal epithelial cells with a weakly acidic (pH 5) bile salt (deoxycholic acid) induces translocation of HMGB1 from the nucleus to the cytosol, and its subsequent release from the cell. This process can be ameliorated by pre‐treatment with the antioxidant, curcumin.

Clinical significance of VEGF-A, -C and -D expression in esophageal malignancies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Vascular endothelial growth factors ( VEGF)- A, - C and - D are members of the proangiogenic VEGF family of glycoproteins. VEGF-A is known to be the most important angiogenic factor under physiological and pathological conditions, while VEGF-C and VEGF-D

Lactate Dehydrogenase C4 Accelerates Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Progression by Promoting Acetyl‐CoA Acyltransferase 2 Lactylation to Increase Free Fatty Acid Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 40, October 27, 2025.
Diagram of the reprogramming of FA metabolism mediated by LDHC4‐induced ACAA2 activity to promote TNBC progression. LDHC4 drives TNBC progression by enhancing ACAA2‐mediated fatty acid production. The resulting accumulation of FFAs stimulates autophagy and accelerates cell cycle progression, thereby promoting tumor growth.

A Case of Squamous Cell Carcinoma Arising From an Intraductal Papilloma of the Breast

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
Graphical abstract showing squamous cell carcinoma arising from an intraductal papilloma of the breast. ABSTRACT We present a rare case of squamous cell carcinoma arising from an intraductal papilloma in a 60‐year‐old female. Histopathology revealed an invasive squamous cell carcinoma with p63 positivity, coexisting with a benign papilloma.
