MetaFusion: An efficient metasearch engine using genetic algorithm

2016 Ninth International Conference on Contemporary Computing (IC3), 2016
World Wide Web is a dynamic source of information which is expanding its content at a staggering rate. Individual search engines are not able to handle the exponential nature of web. Hence meta-search engines are used to solve the problem of low web space information coverage rate of individual search engines.

Metasearch engine result optimization using reformed genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: possible2019 9th International Conference on Computer and Knowledge Engineering (ICCKE), 2019
Metasearch engine is a system that applies several different search engines, merges the returned results from the search engines and presents the best results. Principal component of the metasearch engine is the method applied for merging the given results. The most of existing merging algorithms are relied on the information achieved by ranking scores

MySearchView

Proceedings of the 2007 ACM SIGMOD international conference on Management of data, 2007
In this paper, we describe MySearchView, a system for assembling search engines into metasearch engines. With this system, any user can create a metasearch engine by simply letting the system know the URLs of the search engines the user wants to be included and the metasearch engine will be built fully automatically.

Design and implementation of an intelligent metasearch engine based on agent

International Journal of Agent-Oriented Software Engineering, 2007
It is difficult for users to search for information on the internet because of the rapid expanding of information resource. Traditional search engines cannot deal with that very well. Based on this situation, the paper presented agent and metasearch engine technology.

CASTALIA: Architecture of a Fuzzy Metasearch Engine for Question Answering Systems

2009 Ninth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2009
The goal of this paper is to present the architecture of a metasearch engine called Castalia, still under development, which includes several underlying Q&A systems. Usually metasearch engines manage typical search engines like Google or Yahoo, but in this case the encapsulation of Q&A systems proposes new challenges that can be modeled by fuzzy logic ...

Research on an Algorithm of Metasearch Engine Based on Personalized Demand of Users

2010 International Forum on Information Technology and Applications, 2010
In order to meet the personalized demand of users and help users to be more effective on selecting potentially useful search engines, this paper presented a metasearch engine algorithm that is based on personalized demands of users. According to practical demands of users, different select strategies of metasearch engine algorithm are designed.

Rank aggregation algorithm using particle swarm optimization for metasearch engines

The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology, 2010
Rank aggregation is the algorithm that generates a consensus ranking from a given set of rankings from different sources. Rank aggregation algorithm has been found in many applications in web including metasearch and spam fighting. The proposed rank aggregation algorithm is called footrule optimal aggregation (FOA) because it is based upon optimizing ...

Identifying redundant search engines in a very large scale metasearch engine context

Proceedings of the 8th annual ACM international workshop on Web information and data management, 2006
For a given set of search engines, a search engine is redundant if its searchable contents can be found from other search engines in this set. In this paper, we propose a method to identify redundant search engines in a very large-scale metasearch engine context. The general problem is equivalent to an NP hard problem -- the set-covering problem.
