The role of metasomatic alteration on frictional properties of subduction thrusts: An example from a serpentinite body in the Franciscan Complex, California

open access: greenEarth and Planetary Science Letters, 2019
Fluid–rock interaction within accretionary prisms drastically changes the frictional strength and slip stability of the fault zone. In order to understand the effect of ultramafic components on the degree of interplate coupling, we present data on frictional properties of a reaction zone between serpentinite and argillite in a tectonic mélange of the ...

Metasomatic alteration of dolerite in the Proterozoic sediments of north-eastern Disko Bugt

open access: hybridRapport Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse, 1991
Alteration of a dolerite sheet along quartz-carbonate veins resulted in profound changes in its chemical composition. Per 1000 kg of the original dolerite 135 kg of volatiles, 38 kg of Na2O and 23 kg of CaO were added, and 76 kg of FeO* (total iron expressed as FeO) and 8 kg of K2O were removed.

Mal'javr – the first gold prospect in the Archean conglomerates, the Kola region

open access: yesVestnik MGTU, 2023
A new type of prospects of gold mineralization in the Kola region is considered in the paper. The Mal'javr prospect is located in the south-western flank of the Uragubsky greenstone belt in biotite gneiss – the metamorphosed sedimentary rocks with ...

Studies of petrography, metasomatic alteration, and genesis of Kamtal iron-copper skarn, northeast of Kharvana, East-Azarbaijan

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2012
Kamtal skarn is located 15 km northeast of Kharvana, East-Azarbaijan. A quartz-monzonitic stock of Oligocene age intruded the upper Cretaceous sedimentary sequence (claystone, limestone, marl, and siltstone) developing noticeable metamorphic (marble ...
