Sulfides and chalcophile elements in Roberts Victor eclogites: Unravelling a sulfide-rich metasomatic event [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceA suite of eclogite xenoliths from the Roberts Victor kimberlite (South Africa) is remarkable for its high abundances of base metal sulfides (BMS; up to 2 modal %).

The Origin of Carbonate Magmas Predating and Accompanying Main‐Phase LIPs Eruptions

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Some large igneous provinces (LIPs) are associated with precursory carbonatite eruptions. Models for precursory carbonatites invoking partial melting of a carbonate metasomatized lithosphere appear implausible, given the long time needed for heat conduction from the plume head.

Field and geochemical characterisitics of the Mesoarchean (~3075 ma) Ivisaartoq greenstone belt, southern West Greenland: Evidence for seafloor hydrothermal alteration in a supra-subduction oceanic crust. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Mesoarchean (ca. 3075 Ma) Ivisaartoq greenstone belt in southern West Greenland includes variably deformed and metamorphosed pillow basalts, ultramafic flows (picrites), serpentinized ultramafic rocks, gabbros, sulphide-rich siliceous layers, and ...

P–T Modelling Constrains the Depth of Emplacement of the Porto Azzurro Pluton and Implies Minor Exhumation Caused by the Zuccale Fault (Island of Elba, Italy)

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 44, Issue 6, Page 440-469, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding the pressure of emplacement of granitic intrusions is crucial to understanding the exhumation history of plutons and constraining the tectonic setting of magma emplacement. However, P–T and geochronological constraints from exhumed plutons are often characterized by large uncertainties, especially in shallow crustal settings with

Mineralogical Asbestos Assessment in the Southern Apennines (Italy): A Review

open access: yesFibers, 2019
This paper deals with petrography and mineralogy of serpentinitic rocks occurring in the Southern Apennines (Italy) with the aim to review the already available literature data and furnish new details on asbestos minerals present in the studied area. Two

Polymict melt‐bearing breccia dikes in the Morokweng impact structure formed by slip‐induced mechanical mixing of pseudotachylite and cataclasite along large‐displacement impact faults

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 7, Page 1288-1308, July 2026.
Abstract A core drilled through shocked and faulted Archean granitoid gneisses and dolerites in the eroded peak ring of the 70–80 km diameter Morokweng impact structure intersects multiple centimeter‐ to meter‐wide clastic‐matrix breccias containing a polymict clast population of lithic and mineral clasts and altered, millimeter‐ to centimeter ‐size ...

Metasomatic alteration of dolerite in the Proterozoic sediments of north-eastern Disko Bugt

open access: yesRapport Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse, 1991
Alteration of a dolerite sheet along quartz-carbonate veins resulted in profound changes in its chemical composition. Per 1000 kg of the original dolerite 135 kg of volatiles, 38 kg of Na2O and 23 kg of CaO were added, and 76 kg of FeO* (total iron expressed as FeO) and 8 kg of K2O were removed.

Boron isotopes in tourmaline as a tracer of metasomatic processes in the Bamble sector of Southern Norway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Bamble sector of southern Norway comprises metagabbros and metasediments that were metasomatically altered to various extents during a late stage of the Sveconorwegian orogeny (~1.06 Ga).

Age and Origin of the Mesoproterozoic Iron Oxide-Apatite Mineralization, Cheever Mine, Eastern Adirondacks, NY

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
At the Cheever Mine, located in the eastern Adirondack Mountains of the Mesoproterozoic Grenville Province, iron oxide-apatite ore forms a narrow (<3 m) sheet cross-cutting metasomatically altered, magnetite-bearing, albite-rich leucogranitic host ...
