Metasurface Antennas

2017
This chapter reports design and analysis methods for planar antennas based on modulated metasurfaces (MTSs). These antennas transform a surface wave (SW) into a leaky wave by means of the interaction with a MTS having a spatially modulated equivalent impedance.

Perovskite Metamaterials and Metasurfaces

2021
Nanophotonics has emerged in recent years as the branch of science capable of connecting conventional optics with nanoscale phenomena. The key feature enabling this convergence is the ability of nanosized photonic objects to confine light within volumes comparable to or smaller than their physical sizes, far beyond the wavelength of the optical ...

Low-Contrast Dielectric Metasurface Optics

open access: yesACS Photonics, 2016
The miniaturization of current image sensors is largely limited by the volume of the optical elements. Using a subwavelength-patterned quasi-periodic structure, also known as a metasurface, one can build planar optical elements based on the principle of ...

Optoelectronic metasurfaces

Metamaterials, Metadevices, and Metasystems 2017, 2017
Plasmonic metasurfaces offer a new paradigm for the design of optoelectronic devices. We discuss nanoscale device ideas that exploit the optical field enhancement and confinement provided by such metasurfaces to achieve performance benefits.

Metasurface and metamaterial by design

2014 International Radar Conference, 2014
The synthesis of high-performance and complex electromagnetic devices is carried out through an innovative approach. The features of metasurfaces and metamaterials are exploited to design innovative field manipulation devices. More in detail, a set of instances of the System-by-Design paradigm are applied to the synthesis of metasurface and ...

Modeling refractive metasurfaces in series as a single metasurface

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Metasurfaces are boundaries between two media that are engineered to induce an abrupt phase shift in propagating light over a distance comparable to the wavelength of the light. Metasurface applications exploit this rapid phase shift to allow for precise control of wavefronts.

Metasurfaces for Molecular Emitter

2022 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEO-PR), 2022
We demonstrate extraordinarily spectrally selective narrowband mid-infrared radiation absorbance and thermal emittance with the strong surface enhancement of molecular infrared absorption (SEIRA) using mid-midinfrared metasurfaces. This was achieved by harnessing mode coupling between a plasmonic metal-insulator-metal (MIM) metasurface and molecular ...
