Low RCS, Broadband Polarization Conversion Metasurface Antenna Based on Reactance Loading

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2022
A reactance-loaded polarization conversion metasurface (PCMS) is presented and exploited to realize a metasurface antenna (MTA) with both low radar cross section (RCS) and broadband radiation.

Time-Switched Metasurface Antenna

2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and INC/USNC‐URSI Radio Science Meeting (AP-S/INC-USNC-URSI)
This contribution presents the analysis and design of a novel class of metasurface-based antennas, whose radiative capabilities are enabled by the properties of the temporal and time-switched metamaterials. In particular, we consider a thin metasurface supporting the propagation of a surface wave that can switch instantaneously its surface impedance ...

Metasurface enhanced slot antennas

2016 10th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2016
This paper studies several metasurface enhanced slot antenna. The metasurface is placed on top of the slots, which allows extending their radiating aperture, leading to narrower E-Plane radiation pattern and larger gain. An example is given in which a slotted waveguide antenna gain increases 8 dB with respect to the conventional slotted waveguide ...

Multifeed Beam-Switchable Cylindrical Conformal Holographic Metasurface Antenna

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters
A multifeed beam-switchable cylindrical conformal antenna based on holographic metasurface is proposed in this letter, which can realize five switchable radiation beams through a shared aperture in the conformal case.

Millimeter-Wave Three-Layer Substrate-Integrated 9 × 9 Butler Matrix and Its Application to Wide-Angle Endfire Multibeam Metasurface Antenna

IEEE transactions on microwave theory and techniques
A novel three-layer substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) $9\times9$ Butler matrix (BM) that can produce a broadside beam and wide-angle coverage is presented in this article.

Low-Profile Broadband Dual-Polarization Double-Layer Metasurface Antenna for 2G/3G/LTE Cellular Base Stations

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2022
A double-layer metasurface is proposed to realize the low profile of a broadband dual-polarized antenna for cellular base-station applications. The proposed metasurface is formed by the two layers of printed metallic patch unit cells on either substrate ...

Frequency reconfigurable slot antenna using metasurface

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
A frequency-reconfigurable slot antenna designed using metasurface (MS) is proposed and studied. The proposed antenna is composed of a simple circular slot antenna and a circular MS with the same diameter of 50 mm and implemented using planar technology. The MS is placed directly atop the slot antenna, making the proposed antenna very compact.

Metasurface mantle cloak for antenna applications

Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012
In this work, we exploit the mantle cloak technique to minimize the scattering of a receiving electric dipole antenna at its resonance frequency. Theoretical limitations of the proposed setup are analyzed. Furthermore, we show how our approach can be successfully used to dramatically reduce the blockage effects between two electrically close dipole ...

Transmitarray based Metasurface Lens Antenna

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019
A transmitarray metasurface design is proposed to function as an integrated lens antenna within the frequency range of 11.6 GHz to 13.25 GHz. A finite periodic array of three-layer metallo-dielectric discrete unit cells is used to form the transmitarray lens.

Single layer metasurface lens antenna

2017 11th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), 2017
This paper shows how a set of metallic rings can be used as a planar lens to increase the directivity of a single open waveguide. The goal of this antenna is to obtain a high gain over a wide bandwidth, while maintaining a compact size. In order to obtain a physical insight of the radiating behavior, an analysis of the characteristic modes in the ...
