Microfluidically Polarization-Switchable Metasurfaced Antenna

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2018
This letter reports a polarization-switchable metasurfaced antenna, which comprises a source antenna and a metasurface as a superstrate. The metasurface consists of a 4 × 4 microfluidic element array, and each element is designed with a rectangular loop with diagonals formed by microfluidic injection.

Generic antenna design using metasurfaces

2016 17th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM), 2016
In earlier work, metasurfaces were used to redirect or focus light by tailoring the surface profile to control the phase and magnitude of the current at each of the cells comprising the metasurface. In this work, a metasurface is used to design antennas by tailoring the feed for each resonator to create optimal radiation behaviour.

Shared-aperture modulated metasurface antennas

2017 XXXIInd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2017
This paper describes the design multibeam or dual-band antennas using just a single metasurface (MTS) aperture. An example of multi-beam antenna is presented, it is based on a superposition of modulation patterns, and presents a multi-source feeding scheme. The elements of the objective surface impedance tensor are derived in closed-form, and numerical

A metasurfaced circularly polarized antenna

2017 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2017
An X-band metasurfaced (MS) antenna is proposed for circular polarization (CP) operation. The antenna consists of a patch antenna and a MS, which are printed on a single substrate, resulting in low profile. Results show that, with using the MS, the antenna can achieve an impedance bandwidth (IMBW) of 9.24–10.16 GHz (0.92 GHz, 9.5%) and an axial-ratio ...

Fluidically Beam-Steering Metasurfaced Antenna

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019
This paper presents a fluidically beam-steering metasurfaced antenna. The proposed antenna consists of a source antenna and a bi-layered metasurface which acts as partially reflecting surface (PRS) as a superstrate. The top-layer metasurface composed of 4×4 conductive squared ring element array on the top side of thin dielectric substrate and a 3-D ...

High-Gain OAM Antenna With Low Profile Utilizing Integrated Reflective Metasurface

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) generated by metasurface has recently drawn many attentions. However, due to the hollow phenomenon in the direction of the OAM beam far-field pattern, the gain of the OAM beam decreases, which makes the sidelobe level (SLL)
