Photoswitchable Anapole Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, 2021
AbstractNonradiating charge‐current configurations have attracted attention in photonics for the efficient localization of the electromagnetic field. Anapole mode is a unique nonradiating state of light induced by the interference of electric and toroidal dipole that possesses rich physics with potential applications in micro‐nanophotonics.

Metasurfaced Reverberation Chamber [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractThe concept of metasurfaced reverberation chamber (RC) is introduced in this paper. It is shown that by coating the chamber wall with a rotating 1-bit random coding metasurface, it is possible to enlarge the test zone of the RC while maintaining the field uniformity as good as that in a traditional RC with mechanical stirrers.

Programmable Acoustic Metasurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, 2019
AbstractMetasurfaces open up unprecedented potential for wave engineering using subwavelength sheets. However, a severe limitation of current acoustic metasurfaces is their poor reconfigurability to achieve distinct functions on demand. Here a programmable acoustic metasurface that contains an array of tunable subwavelength unit cells to break the ...

3D-Printed Metasurface Units for Potential Energy Harvesting Applications at the 2.4 GHz Frequency Band

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
The capability of three-dimensional printed cut-wire metasurfaces to harvest energy in frequencies around 2.4 GHz, is studied in this paper. Cut-wire metasurfaces were constructed using the Fused Filament Fabrication technique.

Metasurface polarization splitter [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2017
Polarization beam splitters, devices that separate the two orthogonal polarizations of light into different propagation directions, are among the most ubiquitous optical elements. However, traditionally polarization splitters rely on bulky optical materials, while emerging optoelectronic and photonic circuits require compact, chip-scale polarization ...

Graphene-based tunable coding metasurfaces in terahertz band

open access: yesEPJ Applied Metamaterials, 2020
Two graphene-based tunable coding metasurfaces are proposed for beam steering in terahertz band. The coding metasurfaces are composed of the unit cell with a sandwich-like structure, which contains the top layer of anisotropic rectangular graphene ...

Light-emitting metasurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2019
Abstract Photonic metasurfaces, that is, two-dimensional arrangements of designed plasmonic or dielectric resonant scatterers, have been established as a successful concept for controlling light fields at the nanoscale. While the majority of research so far has concentrated on passive metasurfaces, the direct integration of nanoscale ...

All-Dielectric Metasurfaces with High-Fluorescence-Enhancing Capability

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
All-dielectric metasurfaces are an emerging subfield in photonics. Light-wave manipulation has been extensively explored in these metasurfaces. Although light–matter interaction has also been investigated in these metasurfaces, only a limited ...
