Design of Planar and Conformal, Passive, Loss-less Metasurfaces that Beamform [PDF]
A general technique for synthesizing both planar and conformal beamforming metasurfaces is presented that utilizes full-wave modeling techniques and rapid optimization methods. The synthesized metasurfaces consist of a patterned metallic cladding supported by a finite-size grounded dielectric substrate.

Intrinsic strong light-matter coupling with self-hybridized bound states in the continuum in van der Waals metasurfaces [PDF]
Photonic bound states in the continuum (BICs) provide a standout platform for strong light-matter coupling with transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) but have so far mostly been implemented as traditional all-dielectric metasurfaces with adjacent TMDC

Abstract Metasurfaces are thin two-dimensional metamaterial layers that allow or inhibit the propagation of electromagnetic waves in desired directions. For example, metasurfaces have been demonstrated to produce unusual scattering properties of incident plane waves or to guide and modulate surface waves to obtain desired radiation ...

Optical wavefront shaping based on functional metasurfaces
Regarded as a kind of smart surfaces, metasurfaces can arbitrarily tailor the amplitude, phase, and polarization of light. Metasurfaces usually consist of subwavelength nanoantenna or nanoresonator arrays, which are delicately designed and processed.

Conformable Holographic Metasurfaces [PDF]
AbstractMetasurface holograms are typically fabricated on rigid substrates. Here we experimentally demonstrate broadband, flexible, conformable, helicity multiplexed metasurface holograms operating in the visible range, offering increased potential for real life out-of-the-lab applications.

Planar chiral metasurfaces with maximal and tunable chiroptical response driven by bound states in the continuum [PDF]
Optical metasurfaces with high quality factors (Q-factors) of chiral resonances can boost substantially light-matter interaction for various applications of chiral response in ultrathin, active, and nonlinear metadevices. However, current approaches lack

We introduce quantum metasurfaces: a new interface for quantum light-matter interaction which is realized by atomic arrays, and enables generation of atom-photon entanglement and many-body photonic states suitable for quantum information processing.

Luminescent hyperbolic metasurfaces [PDF]
AbstractWhen engineered on scales much smaller than the operating wavelength, metal-semiconductor nanostructures exhibit properties unobtainable in nature. Namely, a uniaxial optical metamaterial described by a hyperbolic dispersion relation can simultaneously behave as a reflective metal and an absorptive or emissive semiconductor for electromagnetic ...
