Cascaded metasurfaces for high-purity vortex generation
We introduce a new paradigm for generating high-purity vortex beams with metasurfaces. By applying optical neural networks to a system of cascaded phase-only metasurfaces, we demonstrate the efficient generation of high-quality Laguerre-Gaussian (LG ...

Visible Light Communications via Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces: Metasurfaces vs Mirror Arrays
We propose two types of intelligent reflecting systems based on programmable metasurfaces and mirrors to focus the incident optical power towards a visible light communication receiver.

Optical wavefront shaping based on functional metasurfaces
Regarded as a kind of smart surfaces, metasurfaces can arbitrarily tailor the amplitude, phase, and polarization of light. Metasurfaces usually consist of subwavelength nanoantenna or nanoresonator arrays, which are delicately designed and processed.

Metasurfaced Reverberation Chamber [PDF]
AbstractThe concept of metasurfaced reverberation chamber (RC) is introduced in this paper. It is shown that by coating the chamber wall with a rotating 1-bit random coding metasurface, it is possible to enlarge the test zone of the RC while maintaining the field uniformity as good as that in a traditional RC with mechanical stirrers.

Programmable Acoustic Metasurfaces [PDF]
AbstractMetasurfaces open up unprecedented potential for wave engineering using subwavelength sheets. However, a severe limitation of current acoustic metasurfaces is their poor reconfigurability to achieve distinct functions on demand. Here a programmable acoustic metasurface that contains an array of tunable subwavelength unit cells to break the ...
