Geochemistry and tectonic significance of the Mesoproterozoic Kgwebe metavolcanic rocks in northwest Botswana: implications for the evolution of the Kibaran Namaqua-Natal Belt

open access: yes, 1998
The c. 1.1 Ga Kgwebe metavolcanic rocks exposed in the northwest of Botswana are late Kibaran rocks. They represent a bimodal suite of Within-Plate low titanium-phosphorus (LTP) continental tholeiites and post-orogenic Within-Plate high-K rhyolites.

Optimization of Parsimonious and Synchronized Discharge and Dissolved Organic Carbon Models Across Catchment Scales

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The production, transport, loss, and export of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) are closely connected with hydrometeorological drivers. While terrestrial production depends on biogeochemical variables like soil moisture, air temperature, and the contact area between water and organic matter sources, export is determined by water availability and

Tourmalinites of the Brusque Group in the São João Batista-Tijucas area, State of Santa Catarina, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesGeologia USP. Série Científica, 2013
The Dom Feliciano Belt, in the State of Santa Catarina, is represented by the Itaja and Brusque groups and the Florianpolis Batholith. The basal Rio do Oliveira Formation of the Brusque Group consists of metabasic/calc-silicate, metavolcanic-exhalative ...

Rb/Sr whole rock age determinations on metavolcanic rocks from the Narssarssuaq region, South Greenland

open access: yesRapport Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse, 1974
In the area of Julianehåb granite along the south-west coast of Greeniand remnants of volcanic rocks are widespread. Well banded, intermediate tuffs occur on Mato and adjacent islands to the west of Julianehåb (Nesbitt, 1961; Allaart, 1967). Intermediate plagioclase-porphyritic rocks occur associated with aplitic gneiss north of Bredefjord.

Timing of Metamorphism and Deformation in the Neoarchean Quetico Metasedimentary Belt, Superior Craton, Constrained by Garnet Trace‐Element Mapping and Lu–Hf Geochronology

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 44, Issue 4, Page 265-286, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The Quetico subprovince of the Superior Province is among the largest metasedimentary belts globally and provides evidence of tectonic processes at play during the final stages of Archean cratonization. Although previous studies have shown that deformation and metamorphism of the 2.7‐Ga turbiditic protolith resulted in regional subvertical ...

Climax of Late Paleoproterozoic Rift‐Related Magmatism in the Columbia Supercontinent: Insights From a 1.77–1.76 Ga Large Igneous Province of the Dunhuang Block, Northwest China

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Widespread mafic magmatism at ca. 1.8–1.7 Ga across fragments of the Columbia supercontinent records a transition in the Earth's supercontinent cycle. The paleogeographic position of the Dunhuang Block in northwestern China within Columbia, and its role in this tectonic reorganization, remain controversial.

General geology, alteration, and iron deposits in the Palaeoproterozoic Misi region, northern Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 2003
The Paleoproterozoic Misi region forms the northeastern part of the Peräpohja Schist Belt in northern Finland. The area comprises mafic volcanic land sedimentary rocks, differentiated gabbros, and late-orogenic granitoids.

No Groundwater, No Fish: The Critical Role of Groundwater in Supporting Non‐Glacial, Salmon‐Bearing Rivers in South‐Central Alaska

open access: yesJAWRA Journal of the American Water Resources Association, Volume 62, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Groundwater discharge plays an important role in the hydrologic and ecologic functioning of rivers including sustaining streamflow and related habitat year‐round. Simultaneously, groundwater supports the increasing demands of people as the global population continues to grow.

The role of crustal contamination in magma evolution of Neoproterozoic metaigneous rocks from Southwest Svalbard

open access: yes, 2022
Late Neoproterozoic metavolcanic rocks occur along the Southwest coast of Svalbard. The protoliths of the metavolcanic rocks from Wedel Jarlsberg Land and Nordenskiold Land are mainly diabase, basalt and felsic tuff of tholeiitic affinity associated with

The making of pure quartzose sand in continental interiors: Paraná River (Brazil and Argentina)

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 802-837, April 2026.
ABSTRACT As part of a comprehensive project on sedimentary processes in South America, this study focuses on sediment generation in the intracratonic Paraná Basin and monitors the evolution of sand composition along the Paraná River from central Brazil to the Río de la Plata estuary in Argentina.
