Halite thickness in Mbr 2 of the Kumugeliemu can reach 1000 m. The thick halite is associated with sedimentary rock with shallow water fabrics. The thick halite was formed in a shallow‐sea water environment. The ‘Multiple transgression‐salt‐forming’ model was established.

Ferromanganese – an excellent imitation of metallic meteorite
Since the 100 anniversary of the fall of an iron meteorite in the Soča Valley (meteorite Avče, fell in 1908) theinterest in meteorites has increased substantialy in Slovenia. The number of presumed meteorite finds increasedaccordingly. Among the numerous

Raman Study of the Slobodka Ordinary Chondrite
The texture and mineral chemistry of Slobodka are most consistent with L4 chondrites, exhibiting strong shock metamorphism characteristic of shock stage S4, including irregular and planar fractures, undulatory extinction, and mosaicism in olivine, pyroxene, and plagioclase.

The Marseilles Meteorite [PDF]
IT will probably occur to most of your readers, as it immedidiately suggested itself to me, on reading in your journal of the 5th inst. a description from Les Mondes of a remarkable meteorite observed at Marseilles by M. Coggia, on the 1st of August last, that the bright object having an apparent diameter, at first of about 15′, and at last of a little

Low‐Frequency Raman Spectra of Natural Pyrrhotites: Polarization Dependence for Its Lattice Modes
The present study found low‐wavenumber Raman modes of pyrrhotite Fe1‐xS at ~68, ~87, ~117, and ~230 cm−1 for the first time, thanks to a lab‐built Raman spectrometer, in which the optical path of the incident laser was purged by Ar gas. The sufficiently high signal‐to‐noise and signal‐to‐base ratios enabled us to obtain the polarization dependence of ...

Evaluation of video evidence of possible ball lightning
We analyze images of possible ball lightning that appeared less than 10 m from a video camera. The objects' velocity and estimated brightness all agree with typical eyewitness accounts of ball lightning. Though there is an alternative explanation that the objects were sparks from a power‐line arc, we describe analytical techniques that assist in ...

Carbon Isotope Analyses of Individual Hydrocarbon Molecules in Bituminous Coal, Oil Shale and Murchison Meteorite [PDF]
To study the origin of organic matter in meteorite, terrestrial rocks which contain organic compounds similar to the ones found in carbonaceous chondrites are studied and compared with Murchison meteorite.
