The Richardton Meteorite [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Geology, 1919
At 9:48 P.M. Mountain time, June 30, I918,' a meteorite was seen to fall in the country between Richardton and Mott, North Dakota. Pieces fell on both sides of the line between Stark and Hettinger counties within a strip about 9 miles wide from north to south and 5 miles wide from east to west. The center of this area lies in altitude 46037'30" N.

Study of Iron and Stony Meteorite Ablation Based on Simulation Experiments in an Arc Heater

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
To observe meteorite ablation, simulation experiments were conducted on the L5 ordinary chondrite and IAB-MG iron meteorites in an arc-heated facility and three flight conditions were reproduced.

Laboratory mid-IR spectra of equilibrated and igneous meteorites. Searching for observables of planetesimal debris

open access: yes, 2017
Meteorites contain minerals from Solar System asteroids with different properties (like size, presence of water, core formation). We provide new mid-IR transmission spectra of powdered meteorites to obtain templates of how mid-IR spectra of asteroidal ...

Review of the anatomical basis for predicting plutonium alpha particle radiation induced osteogenic cancers

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Plutonium was discovered and first synthesized in the early 1940's. Several isotopes of plutonium are used in nuclear technologies, 238Pu for heat generation and 239Pu for energy production and weapons. Both isotopes emit alpha particles, which pose a significant radiation hazard when incorporated into the body.

Constraining the source regions of lunar meteorites using orbital geochemical data

open access: yes, 2015
Lunar meteorites provide important new samples of the Moon remote from regions visited by the Apollo and Luna sample return missions. Petrologic and geochemical analysis of these meteorites, combined with orbital remote sensing measurements, have enabled

Charge State Influence on Stability and Isomerism in Dehydrogenated PAHs: Insights from Anthracene, Acridine, and Phenazine

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The ionization of anthracene, acridine, and phenazine has been explored, along with the removal of one and two hydrogen atoms, to provide valuable information for astrochemists and to understand the behavior of the resulting structures and their electronic reorganization. Abstract In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of

Quantitative FT-IR Analysis for Chondritic Meteorites: Search for C_60 in Meteorites [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1998
Infrared absorption spectra of 9 bulk samples and 3 acid residues of meteorites were obtained in the mid-infrared region (4000 ~ 400 cm^(-1)). From the known composition of meteorites studied, the possible absorption modes were investigated.

Insights into the genesis of thick halite in the Kuqa Depression (Tarim Basin, China): New mineralogical, lithological and geochemical evidence

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
Halite thickness in Mbr 2 of the Kumugeliemu can reach 1000 m. The thick halite is associated with sedimentary rock with shallow water fabrics. The thick halite was formed in a shallow‐sea water environment. The ‘Multiple transgression‐salt‐forming’ model was established.
