Hydroclimatic Trends Suggest Declining Water Resources in the Cascade Reservoirs of the Tocantins River

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study characterised the hydroclimatology of the seven reservoirs of the Tocantins River, along 1500 km of river and during more than 12 years of sampling, where we analysed climatic variables such as precipitation, global solar radiation, net evaporation, and air temperature, in addition to hydrological variables such as discharge and net ...

Observed Changes in Maximum and Minimum Temperatures and Daily Temperature Range in the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands Between 1952 and 2022

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 2, February 2026.
Strong warming trends have been identified across the Iberian Peninsula, particularly since the 1980s and across all seasons. Increases in minimum temperature dominate at low‐altitude urban stations (below 250 m), while the most pronounced maximum temperature trends occur at elevations above 1500 m, especially in summer.

Kinematic groups across the MW disc: insights from models and from the RAVE catalogue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
With the advent of the Gaia data, the unprecedented kinematic census of great part of the Milky Way disc will allow us to characterise the local kinematic groups and new groups in different disc neighbourhoods. First, we show here that the models predict

Observational Requirements for Quantifying the Diurnal Cycle of XCO2 From Space

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract Spatiotemporal variations in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) provide a means to quantify surface fluxes of carbon over a range of space and timescales. NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory‐3 (OCO‐3), aboard the International Space Station, is the first CO2‐monitoring mission to observe the sunlit portion of the diurnal cycle of total column ...
