Addressing biases in sliding window analysis gives new insight into the response of parturition date to weather in a wild mammal

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Animal breeding phenology in temperate and high latitude regions is often predicted by weather variables, such as temperature. Much work on this topic has focused on taxonomic groups that employ adaptive plastic responses to annual variation in an environmental cue, with analytical approaches developed to determine when weather has an effect and the ...

Comparison on Module Performance and Degradation Robustness of Two‐, Three‐, and Four‐Terminal Perovskite Silicon Configurations Under Realistic Operating Conditions

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
We compare the module performance of two‐terminal, three‐terminal, and four‐terminal perovskite/silicon modules in terms mismatch, thermalization, and interconnection losses. For each configuration, the bandgap energy of the perovskite layer is optimized for different locations.

Cryostratigraphy of Rhythmic Segregated Ice in Colluvium and Implications for Permafrost Slope Stability

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The amount and stratigraphic setting of ground ice in permafrost slopes is a key control on the style and magnitude of permafrost mass wasting. Understanding the spatial and stratigraphic variations in ground ice distribution on permafrost slopes is therefore a fundamental property in assessing the stability of permafrost hillslopes.

Subsurface Investigations of Cryo‐Hydrogeological Features in a High Arctic Catchment Under Transition

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the internal structure and seasonal variations of cryo‐hydrogeological features were investigated in the Fuglebekken catchment, located near the Polish Polar Station Hornsund in Svalbard. Over a few years, rising air temperatures and intensified water circulation have significantly altered the distribution, extent, and state of ...

Sharing the light, impact of solar parks on plant productivity, soil microbes and soil organic matter

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Solar parks enable renewable energy production at a large scale, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, the effects of this change in land use on vegetation and soil health are still largely unknown. In this study, we determined the impacts of solar parks on vegetation, soil biota and soil carbon between and below solar panels.

Flowering out of sync: Climate change alters the reproductive phenology of Terminalia paniculata in the Western Ghats of India

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Understanding how climate change impacts the plant life cycle is critical for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our findings suggest that Terminalia paniculata Roth, a common tropical deciduous tree species in the Western Ghats, is now flowering and fruiting at more scattered times than it used to in the past.
