An overproportioned number of accidents involving general aviation occur in complex terrain. According to the statistics included in the accident investigation reports published by the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB), in some cases, pilots overestimated the energy reserves of their aircraft leading to a loss of control.

Novel meteorological sensor for anemometer heating control purposes: Part A — Proof of concept
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 2013Abstract Heating control of an ice-free anemometer can be challenging especially when the objective of the control is to minimize the power consumption. The novel meteorological probe presented in this paper is a first step towards a fully integrated probe for anemometer heating control purposes. This proof of concept is a heating cylinder that, when

Prescriptive Concept Drift Management in Non-Stationary Meteorological Streams
International Journal of Drug Delivery TechnologyReal-time meteorological monitoring via IoT sensors faces the challenge of concept drift, where evolving statistical properties render static models unreliable. While standard detectors signal the presence of drift, they fail to characterize its structural nature, leading to suboptimal adaptation.

Hybrid modeling in meteorological applications Part I: Concepts and approaches
Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics, 1991Hybrid modeling entails the combination of a numerical weather prediction model and a “symbolic” model. The latter uses symbolic objects, their characterizing attributes and sets of behavioral constrains which prescribe changes in the states of these objects as functions of time, space, and other imposed quantitative or heuristic conditions ...

A concept of UAV meteorological observation network for application to UAM operation
Urban air mobility (UAM) is a promising transport system in megacities in the near future. Urban meteorological data is crucial for operating UAM safely and confidently. To obtain the in-situ meteorological data such as wind, turbulence, air temperature, relative humidity, visibility, snow and icing, we have designed a concept of UAV meteorological ...Kyung-Hwan Kwak +9 more

The construction of the concept of climate: zone, klima and meteorology in the Ancient Age
Llull Revista de la Sociedad Española de Historia de las Ciencias y de las TécnicasThe current importance of the climate concept has sparked interest in understanding its origins. Researchers seek to discover when and how the idea of distributing atmospheric conditions across geographic regions emerged.Ancient science introduced the concepts of «zone» and «klima» as early precedents, though each developed independently.

The paper deals with votive masses in some Glagolitic Missals from the 15th century as a depiction of local culture and beliefs transmitted through spoken rites. The most prominent passages come from the Bribir Missal (Cod. Glag. no. III, preserved in the Archives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb) with invocation of rain and ...
