Under the Weather: Legionellosis and Meteorological Factors
EcoHealth, 2016The incidence of legionellosis, caused by the bacteria Legionella which are commonly found in the environment, has been increasing in New Jersey (NJ) over the last decade. The majority of cases are sporadic with no known source of exposure. Meteorological factors may be associated with increases in legionellosis.

Meteorological risk factors of ischemic stroke
Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2019To study an impact of climate triggers on the seasonal incidence of ischemic stroke (IS).Case histories of 1144 patients with IS were studied. The incidence rate was distributed over months and seasons. Indicators of circannual patterns are calculated as the arithmetic average of morbidity, data on meteorological measurements of temperature ...

Meteorological Factors and Forecasts of Helminthic Disease
1969Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the meteorological factors and the forecasts of helminthic disease. With some helminthic diseases, for example parasitic gastroenteritis in sheep, several different species of nematodes may be involved. These are unlikely to show identical responses to changes in weather or host.

Gender at birth and meteorological factors
International Journal of Risk & Safety in Medicine, 2000Objective. In a previous study, we showed that the ratio of gender at birth (M/F ratio) appeared to vary by latitude. We postulate that meteorological factors may be responsible for this variation. In this study, M/F ratio in a central Mediterranean island were correlated to latitude dependent meteorological factors. Design.

[Meteorological risk factors of stroke].
Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova, 2014Based on correlation analysis of stroke, recorded in Khanty-Mansiysk during 5 years, and standard meteorological factors, we found the significant relationship between the frequency of stroke and daily temperature amplitude. The positive correlation between the frequency of stroke and between-day changes in air temperature in the combination with ...

Radon in soil and meteorological factors
2001Radon detectors with the LR-115 nuclear track films were constructed for radon measurements in soil and water. Concentration of radon in soil gas was continuously measured with the nuclear track detectors, which were placed 0.5 and 1.0 m deep in the soil and also 0.1 m above the water surface in a well.
