H2O2‐Generating Advanced Nanomaterials for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
H2O2‐generating nanoplatforms can exploit tumor redox imbalance for O2 and toxic reactive oxygen species generation, leading to hypoxia reversal, and apoptosis of cancer cells, respectively. This review highlights the mechanisms of these nanoplatforms, including exogenous H₂O₂ delivery, endogenous amplification, and metal peroxides, which leads to ...

Wettability and thermal analysis of hydrophobic poly(methyl methacrylate)/silica nanocomposites

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2017
Hydrophobic poly(methyl methacrylate)/silica layers on the glass support activated with plasma were obtained. Wettability was investigated from the contact angle measurements and surface free energy estimation by means of using contact angle hysteresis ...

Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

Dynamic Networks via Polymerizable Deep Eutectic Monomers for Uniform Li+ Transport at Interfaces in Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The PDEM‐based SIGPE provides a dynamic nanophase from Li+‐bridged molecular self‐association, enhancing electrochemical stability and facilitating uniform Li+ ion flux at the interface. This unique solvation structure results in a hetero species‐driven inorganic‐rich SEI and long‐term cycle stability, suggesting that a PFAS‐free Li+‐containing monomer

Differential orientation and conformation of Keratinocyte Growth Factor observed at HEMA, HEMA/MMA, and HEMA/MAA hydrogel surfaces developed for wound healing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The development of hydrogels for protein delivery requires protein-hydrogel interactions that cause minimal disruption of the protein's biological activity. Biological activity can be influenced by factors such as orientation and conformation. Hydrogels must promote the adsorption of biomolecules onto the surface and the diffusion of biomolecules into ...

Excitonic Emission Modulation in GaSe/MoS2 Van Der Waals Heterostructure Via Plasmonic Control of Interlayer Charge Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic hybridization enables control of light emission in 2D van der Waals heterojunctions. By stacking multilayer GaSe and monolayer MoS2 on a silver film, light emission is enhanced at the edges due to plasmonic effects. In the center, where these effects are absent, charge transfer led to reduced light emission.
