Methane: A Neglected Greenhouse Gas [PDF]
Methane is a greenhouse gas that gets far less public attention than carbon dioxide. This is entirely unwarranted. Being 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide in trapping heat in the atmosphere, methane accounts for about one-sixth of all ...

Damage Effect and Injury Range of Shock Waves in Mine Methane Explosion
During the process of mining underground coal, the coal emits a large amount of methane into the mining space, which may lead to methane accumulation and exceed explosion safety limits When the methane encounters a fire source, a methane explosion may ...

Methane Beneath Greenlands Ice Sheet Is Being Released [PDF]
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, but a complete accounting of global methane sources and sinks is still ongoing. Sediments beneath glaciers and ice sheets harbour carbon reserves that, under certain conditions, can be converted to methane.

A metal‐based thermal metasurface supporting bound states in the continuum is demonstrated and experimentally shown to achieve a record‐high quality factor of 202 and high emissivity of 0.82. The design offers thermally stable, narrowband mid‐infrared emission, making it ideal for high‐precision gas sensing applications.

A proof‐of‐concept of a thermally‐tunable cathodoluminescence‐based light source is demonstrated using a wide‐bandgap z‐cut ZnO crystal as anode, resulting in the ultraviolet (UV) emission peak shifting from 398 nm to ~409 nm (3.115‐3.032 eV). Our results establish the feasibility of a compact, field‐deployable UV source with potential for gas sensing ...
