Natural gas is of increasing interest as an alternative fuel for vehicles and stationary engines that traditionally use gasoline and diesel fuels. Drivers for the adoption of natural gas include high abundance, lower price and reduced greenhouse gas emissions compared to other fossil fuels. Biogas is an option which could reduce such emissions further.

Slowdown in China's methane emission growth. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The unprecedented surge in global methane levels has raised global concerns in recent years, casting a spotlight on China as a pivotal emitter. China has taken several actions to curb the methane emissions, but their effects remain unclear.

Methane emissions from enteric fermentation in dairy cows, 1990-2008 [PDF]
The Dutch protocol for the national inventory estimates the methane emission of the average Dutch dairy cow based on a Tier 3 approach. A dynamic, mechanistic model is used to represent the enteric fermentation processes, using annual national statistics

Global Warming and Dairy Cattle: How to Control and Reduce Methane Emission
Simple Summary Concerns about greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from livestock and dairy farms, as well as their connection to global warming and climate change, have grown among the general public worldwide in recent years.

Unravelling a large methane emission discrepancy in Mexico using satellite observations
We use satellite observations from the Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) to map and quantify methane emissions from eastern Mexico using an atmospheric inverse analysis.

Feeding Strategies to Mitigate Enteric Methane Emission from Ruminants in Grassland Systems
Simple Summary Ruminants under grazing conditions play an important role, especially in developing countries. Enteric methane emissions from ruminants are greater with pasture-based diets; however, it is not clear which abatement practices are effective ...

Breeding for reduced methane emission and feed-efficient Holstein cows: An international response.
Selecting for lower methane (CH4) emitting animals is one of the best approaches to reduce CH4 given that genetic progress is permanent and cumulative over generations.

Emission of methane from plants [PDF]
It has been proposed that plants are capable of producing methane by a novel and unidentified biochemical pathway. Emission of methane with an apparently biological origin was recorded from both whole plants and detached leaves. This was the first report of methanogenesis in an aerobic setting, and was estimated to account for 10–45 per cent of the ...
