Data-driven discovery of methane hydrate promoters

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials
Methane hydrates require extreme conditions, and promoter discovery remains largely empirical. We develop a multimodal deep-learning framework that predicts methane-hydrate equilibrium pressures from molecular structure. Trained on over eighty promoters,

Transport- reaction modeling of marine gas hydrate deposits- global results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have developed a multi-1D numerical model of gas hydrate formation and dissolution processes in anoxic marine sediments and, by this model, we have estimated the new global gas hydrate inventory (BURWICZ E. B. et al., 2011).

Unraveling Mechanisms and Engineering Strategies for Superior Photocarrier Dynamics Toward Efficient Photocatalysis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Despite its potential, photocatalysis is limited by inefficient charge carrier separation and transport. This article reviews the mechanisms, characterization methods, and strategies for improvement, concluding with future challenges in the field. ABSTRACT Photocatalysis offers a promising solution to environmental and renewable energy issues. However,

Distinct creep regimes of methane hydrates predicted by a monatomic water model

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
The power-law creep properties of methane hydrates were measured experimentally two decades ago, but their microscopic explanation is still missing. Here we show, using molecular dynamics simulations spanning almost 2 orders of magnitude of stresses and ...

KINETIC FEATURES OF THE DISSOCIATION PROCESS OF GAS HYDRATE DEPOSITS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The research is aimed at revealing the theoretical features of the kinetics of the process of dissociation of natural gas hydrates, the accounting of which is useful in designing technologies for their development.

Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes From CO2 Enabled by Fe–Mo Bimetallic Catalysts via Effective CO2 Scavenging

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The tandem process involves CO2 methanation and CH4 pyrolysis for CNT synthesis. Unreacted CO2 and H2 from methanation oxidize Fe, suppressing CNT growth on Fe‐only catalysts. Incorporation of Mo into Fe/MgO forms Mo2C, which prevents Fe oxidation under CO2/H2 conditions and thereby enables CNT formation.

Characterization of methane hydrate extraction influenced by hydraulic fractures using a coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical model

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The low permeability of the methane hydrate-bearing sediment limits the methane gas extraction. To enhance methane hydrate extraction, hydraulic fracturing can be a promising approach to improve the hydrate reservoir permeability by creating a fracture ...

Dissociation and Self-Preservation of Gas Hydrates in Permafrost

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
Gases releasing from shallow permafrost above 150 m may contain methane produced by the dissociation of pore metastable gas hydrates, which can exist in permafrost due to self-preservation.
