Anaerobic Oxidation of Methane and Ammonium [PDF]
▪ Abstract Anaerobic oxidation of methane and ammonium are two different processes catalyzed by completely unrelated microorganisms. Still, the two processes do have many interesting aspects in common. First, both of them were once deemed biochemically impossible and nonexistent in nature, but have now been identified as major factors in global carbon

Chemical looping dry reforming of methane using mixed oxides of iron and cerium: Operation window
A series of the mixed oxides of iron and cerium, with an iron(III) oxide content ranging from 0 wt% to 100 wt% were tested as oxygen carriers in the chemical looping dry reforming of methane (CL-DRM).

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Simulation of methane oxidation on Pt [PDF]
The authors present a generic model of CH4 oxidation on Pt with the emphasis on the role of surface-oxide formation. The latter process is treated in terms of the theory of first-order phase transitions. The corresponding Monte Carlo simulations indicate that the surface-oxide formation may result in stepwise features in the reaction kinetics ...

Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Oxidation is a potentially significant methane sink in land-terminating glacial runoff
Globally, aquatic ecosystems are one of the largest but most uncertain sources of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. It is unclear how climate change will affect methane emissions, but recent work suggests that glacial systems, which are melting faster ...
