Extraction by SOXTEC® of the cotton fatty matter from different producing areas. Comparison of the dichloromethane or successive dichloromethane-methanol extractions.

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1997
The paper compares the fatty matter recovered from cotton when applying one extraction with dichloromethane or two successive extractions (the first with dichloromethane and the second one with methanol, more polar) and the time required for the ...

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Isothermal Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium of Methanol + Glycerol and 1-Propanol + Glycerol

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2016
Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for two binary mixtures of methanol + glycerol and 1-propanol + glycerol were determined at the temperature range from (313.15 to 363.15) K using a simple quasi-static ebulliometer.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Methanol in wine [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2017
This paper examines the origins of methanol in grape wine and the quantities typically found in it, as well as in other foods such as unpasteurised fruit juices. The toxicology of methanol and the associated regulatory limits established by competent authorities in various parts of the world are also considered. It is concluded that such limits are not

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Mass and Energy Balance Analysis of Methanol Production Using Atmospheric CO2 Capture with Energy Source from PCMSR

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The rising of atmospheric CO2 concentration is the major source to global warming system. Many methods have been proposed to mitigate global warming, such as carbon penalty, carbon trading, CO2 sequestration, etc.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.
