Nickel(II)-catalysed oxidative guanine and DNA damage beyond 8-oxoguanine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Oxidative DNA damage is one of the most important and most studied mechanisms of disease. It has been associated with a range of terminal diseases such as cancer, heart disease, hepatitis, and HIV, as well as with a variety of everyday ailments.

Synthesis and evaluation of bifunctional reforming-shift composite catalysts on metal foams for methanol steam reforming with reduced CO production

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
This study investigates a strategy to reduce carbon monoxide (CO) content in the product gas from methanol steam reforming, a critical challenge since CO acts as a poison for fuel cell catalysts.

Catalytic reactivity of face centered cubic PdZnα for the steam reforming of methanol

open access: yes, 2012
Addition of Zn to Pd changes its catalytic behavior for steam reforming of methanol. Previous work shows that improved catalytic behavior (high selectivity to CO2) is achieved by the intermetallic, tetragonal L10 phase PdZnβ1, where the Pd:Zn ratio is ...

Ethanol internal reforming in solid oxide fuel cells: A path toward high performance metal-supported cells for vehicular applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Internal reforming of ethanol fuel was investigated on high-performance metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells (MS-SOFCs) with infiltrated catalysts. The hydrogen concentration and internal reforming effects were evaluated systematically with different ...

Methane Pyrolysis Performance in Catalytic Molten Media for Hydrogen Production From the Perspective of Bubble Column Reactor Design and Configuration

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the hydrogen production routes from natural gas (methane), methane pyrolysis offers a cleaner option than the established steam methane reforming by producing CO2‐free hydrogen. However, in fixed bed reactors over solid catalysts, this technology experiences rapid catalyst deactivation due to carbon (coke) deposition encapsulating its ...

The application of inelastic neutron scattering to investigate the ‘dry’ reforming of methane over an alumina-supported nickel catalyst operating under conditions where filamentous carbon formation is prevalent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The use of CO2 in reforming methane to produce the industrial feedstock syngas is an economically and environmentally attractive reaction. An alumina-supported nickel catalyst active for this reaction additionally forms filamentous carbon.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
