Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

A way of decoupling gravitational sources in pure Lovelock gravity
We provide an algorithm that shows how to decouple gravitational sources in Pure Lovelock gravity. This method allows to obtain several new and known analytic solutions of physical interest in scenarios with extra dimensions and with presence of higher ...

Selective measurement of anti-tTG antibodies in coeliac disease and IgA deficiency : an alternative pathway [PDF]
Objective To determine the ability of selective antibody testing to screen for coeliac disease in the presence of IgA deficiency and to define the sensitivity of a pathway using this method (Figure1).

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A major impediment of using Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering to identify biological molecules is that the illumination levels required to produce a measurable signal often also produce significant nonresonant background from the medium, especially ...

BRST-anti-BRST covariant theory for the second class constrained systems. A general method and examples [PDF]
The BRST-anti-BRST covariant extension is suggested for the split involution quantization scheme for the second class constrained theories. The constraint algebra generating equations involve on equal footing a pair of BRST charges for second class ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Many plant and fungal extracts (PFEs) show anti‐fatigue properties through various pathways, but synergistic formulas and mechanisms are unclear. We screened six PFEs using a sodium sulfite (Na2SO3)‐induced exercise fatigue zebrafish model and developed ...
