Media as Method in the Age of Revolution
2020This chapter focuses on the importance of examining media as institutions, industries, practices, and content in explorations of contemporary Middle Eastern and North African history, society, and politics. It argues that understanding media is imperative to the very comprehension of colonial legacies, perennial currents of revolutionary discourse, and

Stability analysis of shells of revolution by the finite-element method.
AIAA Journal, 1968An extension of the finite-element displacement method to the analysis of linear bifurcation buckling of general shells of revolution under static axisymmetric loading is presented. A systematic procedure for the formulation of the problem is based upon the criterion that the condition for neutral stability of a system is the vanishing of the second ...

Direct stiffness method analysis of shells of revolution utilizing curved elements.
AIAA Journal, 1966A doubly curved axisymmetric shell element is constructed for use in the analysis of shells by the direct stiffness method. The new element is expected to remedy difficulties experienced with the conical shell element, developed by Grafton and Strome and extended by Percy et al., in the case of shells subjected to distributed loadings.

Removal model of rotation & revolution type polishing method
Precision Engineering, 2017Abstract This paper introduces and discusses the Rotation and Revolution Polishing (RRP) method which meets increasing demands for high quality aspherical optics and higher precision polishing techniques by its unique machining positions and tool shapes. The RRP method is a promising precision polishing method as it can stably maintain polishing tool

A stiffness method for elastic-plastic shells of revolution
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1966A stiffness method is proposed for the analysis of elastic-plastic shells of revolution with axisymmetric loading. A step-by-step method of integration is used in a computer programme developed to implement the method. Calculations were performed for a toroidal bellows and a torispherical pressure vessel head; the results agree with experimental ...

Aperiodic-Fourier modal method for analysis of body-of-revolution photonic structures
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014Modeling the field produced by a point-like dipole with an arbitrary location in the presence of a rotationally invariant nanostructure is an important issue in the context of designing nanoantennas. This is a challenging problem, as rotational symmetry is broken when introducing a noncentered dipole.

Plastic Collapse of Shells of Revolution by Finite Element Methods
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1978This technical note indicates alternative applications of the nonlinear programming techniques and the finite element discretization to the limit analysis of shells of revolution. The numerical results are good even though the numbers of degrees-of-freedom used are limited.

The Silent Revolution in Methods of Advocacy
2019Factors behind what George Keeton described in 1943 as a “silent revolution” in advocacy over the last 50 years included: changed standards of etiquette, professional rules and greater control exerted by judges; moderation in prosecutions; conversational and matter of fact style replacing histrionic presentation; concentration more on issues in cross ...
