The will of the middleperson: Triangular communication and its asymmetries in the figures of the Hebrew prophet and the Jewish Shtadlan

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, EarlyView.
Abstract Ancient rhetoric instructs the advocate to evoke in themselves the emotions they wish to elicit in the judge in order to successfully act as the Fürsprecher (advocates) of their clients. Taken to its extreme, this formula of “affection through auto‐affection” renders the figure of the Fürsprecher a double‐sided representative who compensates ...

Assessing the cumulative demographic impact of collision risk from offshore wind energy on seabirds

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 10, October 2026.
Our new general workflow to study the cumulative impacts of multiple wind farms on seabird populations is applicable to any species and wind farms. It is flexible, operational and represents a valuable component of a methodological tool kit that is urgently needed in the context of rapidly developing renewable energy infrastructure.

Serum GFAP and Age Accurately Distinguish AQP4‐IgG Positive and Double Seronegative NMOSD From MOGAD After a Recent Attack

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
After a recent NMOSD attack, serum GFAP and age together provide a simple and powerful way to distinguish AQP4‐IgG NMOSD from MOGAD and related disorders. In 240 patients evaluated within 90 days of an attack from a 640‐patient cohort, this combination achieved high diagnostic accuracy (AUC up to 0.95).

Nonlinear permuted Granger causality

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, Volume 54, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Granger causality is an established, contentious method that seeks causal temporal connections via association and precedence. While not true causal inference, it assists in mapping networks of information flow that may warrant further study.

A synthetic eco‐evolutionary proposal for the conservation of wild relatives of the olive tree

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1904-1924, September 2026.
Societal Impact Statement Crop wild relatives (CWR) are valuable sources of genetic diversity for plant breeding. However, the identification of wild untapped genetic resources (i.e., unexploited in crops) is not always straightforward. We propose a methodology to guide the identification and conservation of these resources that integrates both genetic
