Methodology: Methodology Justification
2017This study adopts one design of the mixed methods—the sequential explanatory design. This design is characterized by the collection and analysis of quantitative data followed by the collection and analysis of qualitative data. The underlying epistemology for this methodology is based on Behren and Smith’s arguments.

Research aims to reach valid conclusions through scientific enquiry. Valid conclusions can only be reached if bias is minimized or eliminated. Bias can potentially take place in the design, implementation, or analysis of a study. Various study designs reduce bias, and this article reviews some of the more common study designs in orthopaedic sports ...

Sensitive, specific, accurate and precise methods of analysis are needed for enforcement of mycotoxin regulations, other monitoring programmes, and research studies. Rapid screening tests are useful for control at all stages of food and feed production.

We introduce a predicative semantics of programs and show its use in programming. With it, logic errors can be detected and reported when they are made, just like syntax errors. Programming paradigms are stated precisely as theorems. The use of paradigms in larger programs is shown to be the same as the mathematician's use of theorems in the proof of ...

Q methodology is more than just a technique for assessing attitudes. It is an approach which has subjectivity as its central focus and aims to allow researchers to present the views and perspectives of different people without insisting on the 'superior', more 'objective' status of the researcher's own construction of reality ( 1 ).

This chapter introduces the research methodology underpinning this book. It first defines the terms of ‘research’ and ‘methodology’ and discusses the implicit — and often unspoken — ideas about what research is and how it should operate. Academically situated researchers undergo long training and socialisation processes that involve learning the forms,

In this conversation, Adrian Curtin, Prarthana Purkayastha, and meLê yamomo highlight how their research on sound and dance engages embodied knowledges and vice versa. They account for how archival work challenges presumptions about the research process as well as what the scholar assumes they are looking for in the archive.
