Regularization methods for solving inverse problems

2000
Abstract Inverse Problems are concerned with determining causes for desired or observed effects: from this formulation, it is clear that inverse problems appear frequently in all kinds of applied fields. Examples of important classes of inverse problems are tomography (cf. [62]), which is import.ant both in medical applications and in

Indexing problem solving methods for reuse

1999
This paper is primarily meant as a position paper. After more than ten years of research on the nature of tasks, problem solving methods (PSMs) and ontologies, it appears to me that indexing PSMs by their function (task, goal, problem type) is not a good idea.

Token Pruning in Multimodal Large Language Models: Are We Solving the Right Problem?

Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics
Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have shown remarkable performance for cross-modal understanding and generation, yet still suffer from severe inference costs.

Iterative methods for solving minimax problems

USSR Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1974
Abstract THE ITERATIVE methods are described, and their convergence to a local solution of a minimax problem is proved. The conditions for their convergence to the global solution are obtained. It is shown that the methods may be used to find saddle points.

Methods for solving selected mathematical problems

Q A Iasaýı atyndaǵy Halyqaralyq qazaq-túrіk ýnıversıtetіnіń habarlary (fızıka matematıka ınformatıka serııasy)
The article provides a summary of selected mathematical problems, discusses chapters covering selected problems, and demonstrates ways to solve selected problems using concrete examples. It is known that the selected mathematical problems are generalized by mathematical Olympiad problems by university students and schoolchildren, which have been ...

Problem Solving Methods for Mathematical Modelling

2015
Providing a method for problem solving can support students working on modelling tasks. A few candidate methods are presented here. In a qualitative study, one of these problem solving methods was introduced to students in grades 4 and 6 (Germany), to be used in their work on modelling tasks.
