Genetic variation for methoprene resistance in Drosophila melanogaster
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1988Abstract Methoprene, a chemical analogue of juvenile hormone, is highly toxic to larvae of Drosophila melanogaster. The amount of naturally occurring resistance to methoprene was determined in genetically well-defined strains of Drosophila having a second or third chromosome extracted from natural population flies and inserted into an isogenic ...

Effects of Methoprene on Lycoriella mali (Diptera: Sciaridae)
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1988Methoprene, a juvenile hormone analog, is widely used for control of larvae of the mushroom pest Lycoriella mali (Fitch) in compost. The effects of methoprene applied to the eggs. first instars, and fourth instars were investigated. Methoprene was slightly ovicidal to eggs 24 h old. Maximum inhibition of hatching was 27%. Eggs were most sensitive when

Environmental degradation of the insect growth regulator methoprene
Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 1975Abstract The metabolism of methoprene ( I , isopropyl ( 2E,4E )-11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-2,4-dodecadienoate, trademark Altosid) was investigated in larval mosquitoes and houseflies. The most abundant primary metabolite in third- and fourth-instar Aedes and fourth-instar Culex larvae was the hydroxy ester while the hydroxy acid predominated in ...

Mushroom Sciarid Control with Methoprene (Apex), 1978-79
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1983Abstract EXPERIMENT I. Six trays (.61 m x .61 m x .15 m), each filled with 18 kg of Phase II horse manure compost were placed into each of 2 small mushroom growing rooms. Each tray was spawned with 1 unit of MGA Cocoa Tan. Seven days after spawning (DAS) 240 gravid female sciarids were released onto the trays in each room.

Sterilising activity of methoprene and hydroprene inTribolium castaneum (Herbst)
Experientia, 1978The productivity ofT. castaneum adults, previously reared in flour incorporating either the IGR methoprene or hydroprene, was found to be impaired depending on the concentration of the IGR in the flour, whether or not the individual was morphologically deformed, and its sex.

Methoprene and 20-OH-Ecdysone affect male production in Daphnia pulex
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2001Abstract Exposure of Daphnia pulex to the insecticide and juvenile hormone-mimic methoprene resulted in a decrease in the incidence of all-male broods and an increase in the incidence of all-female broods compared with controls.

Methoprene Bolus for Horn Fly Control in Wyoming, 1986
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1987Abstract Two herds of experimental cattle were used. A herd of Hereford cattle was divided into 3 groups and treated on 27 Jun. The 3 groups were: (1) an untreated group of 13 cows, 2 heifers, and 13 calves; (2) a treated group of 39 cows, 7 heifers, and 35 calves in which cows and heifers received "bolus 1"; and (3) a group of 41 cows ...
