We applied s‐hydroprene, a juvenile hormone analog (JHA), to gravid female mosquitoes that have naturally ceased JH production. We found that gravid females exposed to JHAs blood fed in a dose dependent manner and this behavior could be induced through simulated environmental exposure.

ABSTRACT Long‐lasting insecticide‐incorporated netting (LLIN) can intercept insects and has shown promise for pest management before and after harvest in agriculture. Understanding how to incorporate LLIN into existing integrated pest management (IPM) programs, with other commonly used tactics like residual contact insecticides, can significantly ...

Abstract Issue Addressed An important part of preventing and managing Aedes‐borne mosquito disease outbreak risk is engaging the community. Research shows that high‐income countries tend to use top‐down measures for Aedes mosquito management, favouring educational approaches to engage the community over participatory approaches that actively involve ...

Involvement of Met and Kr-h1 in JH-Mediated Reproduction of Female Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel)
Juvenile hormone (JH) prevents metamorphosis during insect larval stages and promotes adult reproductive processes. Krüppel-homolog 1 (Kr-h1), a zinc finger transcription factor assumed to be induced by JH via the JH receptor methoprene-tolerant (Met ...

The moulting arthropod: a complete genetic toolkit review
ABSTRACT Exoskeletons are a defining character of all arthropods that provide physical support for their segmented bodies and appendages as well as protection from the environment and predation. This ubiquitous yet evolutionarily variable feature has been instrumental in facilitating the adoption of a variety of lifestyles and the exploitation of ...
