Diet acts on sexual behavior development in a male moth

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 4, Page 1439-1452, August 2025.
Drastic changes are observed during sexual maturation characterized by the reproductive system development concomitantly to the sexual behavior ontogenesis. These modifications are under the control of internal and external factors such as food. Knowing that sexual maturation requires considerable energetic investment, diet has been shown to affect ...

Fate of methoprene in temperate salt marsh ditches following aerial applications

open access: yes, 2018
Aerial applications of liquid methoprene are used in salt marshes to control mosquitoes by preventing adult emergence. Despite concern about toxicity to non-target organisms, little is known about environmental concentrations after applications, nor ...

Methoprene-Induced Genes in Workers of Formosan Subterranean Termites (Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki)

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Termites have a distinct polyphenism controlled by concise hormonal and molecular mechanisms. Workers undergo double molts to transform into soldiers (worker−presoldier−soldier).

Development of an Analytical Method for Methoprene in Rice by HPLC

open access: yesFood Hygiene and Safety Science (Shokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi), 1994
A new analytical method was developed for the determination of methoprene, an insecticide, in rice. Methoprene was extracted with n-hexane from powdered samples. The concentrated n-hexane extract was purified by distillation in a Dean-Stark apparatus for 1.5hr, and then cleaned-up with a Sep-pak Florisil cartridge. The eluate was used as test solution.

The quest for the best target genes for RNAi‐mediated pest control

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 505-517, August 2025.
A major challenge for RNAi mediated pest control is the identification of the most effective RNAi target genes from the pool of ~37% of all genes that are essential. Effective RNAi target genes are predominantly highly conserved genes serving basic cellular functions such as protein degradation.

Regulation of the development of flight muscles in long-winged adults of the flightless bug Pyrrhocoris apterus (Heteroptera: Pyrrhocoridae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2008
We studied the development of the indirect flight muscles and reproductive organs in long-winged (macropterous) adults of the flightless bug Pyrrhocoris apterus (L.) and the factors involved in flight muscles histolysis by means of total protein analysis.

Effects of methoprene treatment on ovarian development in miR-309a overexpressed female adults of B. dorsalis.

open access: yes, 2022
(A) Surface area of the ovary, including the mimic-NC-injected females with acetone treatment (mimic-NC+acetone, n = 96), mimic-309a-injected females with acetone treatment (mimic-309a+acetone, n = 91), and mimic-309a-injected females with methoprene ...

Reduced fecundity of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) following exposure of adults to methoprene

open access: yes, 1998
Experiments were carried out to determine whether exposure of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) adults to wheat treated with methoprene affected their fecundity when subsequently transferred to untreated wheat.

Effects of juvenile hormone (JH) mimic, methoprene, on 20HE action and cell proliferation.

open access: yes, 2013
Phase contrast images of cells cultured in 20 ng/mL 20HE and varying levels of methoprene (A–F). Total number of nuclei and BrDU-positive nuclei on day 2 and 6 for varying methoprene concentrations (G–H ...
