Ethanol Extract of the Infructescence of Platycarya strobilacea Sieb. et Zucc. Induces Methuosis of Human Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells [PDF]

open access: hybridEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
The infructescence of Platycarya strobilacea Sieb. et Zucc. (PS) has been used in the treatment of rhinitis and sinusitis in clinical practice. Our preliminary study showed that an ethanol extract of the infructescence of PS (EPS) had significant antinasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) effects in vitro.

The Mechanisms of Regulated Cell Death: Structural and Functional Proteomic Pathways Induced or Inhibited by a Specific Protein—A Narrative Review [PDF]

open access: yesProteomes
Billions of cells die in us every hour, and our tissues do not shrink because there is a natural regulation where Cell Death (CD) is balanced with cell division.

Methuosis Contributes to Jaspine-B-Induced Cell Death. [PDF]

open access: goldInt J Mol Sci, 2022
Methuosis is a type of programmed cell death in which the cytoplasm is occupied by fluid-filled vacuoles that originate from macropinosomes (cytoplasmic vacuolation). A few molecules have been reported to behave as methuosis inducers in cancer cell lines.

Casein kinase 2 phosphorylates and induces the SALL2 tumor suppressor degradation in colon cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Spalt-like proteins are Zinc finger transcription factors from Caenorhabditis elegans to vertebrates, with critical roles in development. In vertebrates, four paralogues have been identified (SALL1-4), and SALL2 is the family’s most dissimilar member ...

Novel Metabolites from the Marine-Derived Fungus Peniophora sp. SCSIO41203 Show Promising In Vitro Antitumor Activity as Methuosis Inducers in PC-3 Cells [PDF]

open access: goldMarine Drugs
Two new cytochalasin derivatives, peniotrinins A (1) and B (2), three new citrinin derivatives, peniotrinins C–E (4, 5, 7), and one new tetramic acid derivative, peniotrinin F (12), along with nine structurally related known compounds, were isolated from

Indolyl-Pyridinyl-Propenone-Induced Methuosis through the Inhibition of PIKFYVE [PDF]

open access: goldACS Omega, 2018
Methuosis is a form of nonapoptotic cell death characterized by the accumulation of macropinosome-derived vacuoles. Herein, we identify PIKFYVE, a class III phosphoinositide (PI) kinase, as the protein target responsible for the methuosis-inducing activity of indolyl-pyridinyl-propenones (3-(5-methoxy-2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-1-(4-pyridinyl)-2-propen-1 ...

Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of 5-((4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-yl)amino)-1H-Indole-2-Carbohydrazide derivatives: the methuosis inducer 12A as a Novel and selective anticancer agent [PDF]

open access: goldJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2021
This study describes the synthesis and vacuole-inducing activity of 5-((4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-yl)amino)-1H-indole-2-carbohydrazide derivatives, including five potent derivatives 12c, 12 g, 12i, 12n, and 12A that exhibit excellent vacuole-inducing ...

Targeting protein kinase CK2 in the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesExploration of Targeted Anti-tumor Therapy, 2021
Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a disease with a very poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Although targeted therapies directed towards specific mutations found in CCA are becoming available and are showing great potential, many tumors do not carry ...
