Photochemically Mediated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate Using ppm Amounts of Catalyst

, 2012
Well-controlled polymerization of methyl methacrylate at 35 °C was achieved by photochemically mediated atom transfer radical polymerization using a copper catalyst concentration as low as 50–100 ppm.

Polarographic determination of methyl methacrylate

Talanta, 1967
The permanganate oxidation of methyl methacrylate in weakly acidic solution yields methyl pyruvate. Hydroxylamine hydrochloride is used for destroying the excess of permanganate. At the same time it is consumed for oximation of the pyruvate, and the resulting oxime is determined polarographically. The reaction scheme of permanganate oxidation of methyl

Tandem RAFT-ATRP Synthesis of Polystyrene-Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) Bottlebrush Block Copolymers and Their Self-Assembly into Cylindrical Nanostructures.

ACS Macro Letters, 2012
A polystyrene-poly(methyl methacrylate) (PS-PMMA) bottlebrush block copolymer with asymmetric branches was synthesized by grafting from a symmetrical backbone containing a novel dual vinyl initiation system and characterized by atomic force microscopy ...

Molecular mobility in supported thin films of polystyrene, poly(methyl methacrylate), and poly(2-vinyl pyridine) probed by dye reorientation

, 2012
Temperature-ramping anisotropy measurements were used to probe the molecular mobility of fluorescent probes in polystyrene, poly(methyl methacrylate), and poly(2-vinyl pyridine) films supported upon silicon wafers with native oxide coatings.

Thermodynamic properties of polymethyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1963
AbstractFrom published data the entropy, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) have been calculated over the temperature range 0–260°K. These functions have also been calculated for methyl methacrylate over the range 0–210°K. The entropy of polymerization at 210°K. was found to be 9.63 cal./mole°K.

Dynamics of Water-Induced Surface Reorganization in Poly(methyl methacrylate) Films

, 2012
At the outermost surface, aggregation states of polymers generally tend to alter to their most stable ones in response to their surrounding environment.

Covalent functionalization of graphene with poly(methyl methacrylate) by atom transfer radical polymerization at room temperature

, 2012
Graphene was covalently functionalized with phenol groups by a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction without degrading its electronic properties. Here, these phenols on the functionalized graphene have been further derivatized with 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide

Organocatalytic tail-to-tail dimerization of olefin: umpolung of methyl methacrylate mediated by N-heterocyclic carbene.

Organic Letters, 2011
Highly selective tail-to-tail dimerization of methyl methacrylate has been realized by an N-heterocyclic carbene catalyst, giving dimethyl 2,5-dimethyl-2-hexenedioate with an E/Z ratio of 95:5 in 86% isolated yield.
