Methylammonium‐Mediated Evolution of Mixed‐Organic‐Cation Perovskite Thin Films: A Dynamic Composition‐Tuning Process [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2017
AbstractMethylammonium‐mediated phase‐evolution behavior of FA1−xMAxPbI3 mixed‐organic‐cation perovskite (MOCP) is studied. It is found that by simply enriching the MOCP precursor solutions with excess methylammonium cations, the MOCPs form via a dynamic composition‐tuning process that is key to obtaining MOCP thin films with superior properties.

Limit of incorporating cesium cations into formamidinium-methylammonium based mixed halide perovskite solar cells

Nanotechnology, 2020
Abstract Incorporating formamidinium (FA) into methylammonium (MA) based perovskite has brought significant thermal and environmental stability including best device performance. It has been shown that addition of Cesium (Cs) makes perovskite robust in terms of thermodynamic stability as well. We explore the means

Reduction of Methylammonium Cations as a Major Electrochemical Degradation Pathway in MAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2019
Herein, we reveal for the first time a comprehensive mechanism of poorly investigated electrochemical decomposition of CH3NH3PbI3 using a set of microscopy techniques (optical, AFM, PL) and ToF-SIMS. We demonstrate that applied electric bias induces the oxidation of I- to I2, which remains trapped in the film in the form of polyiodides, and hence, the ...

Organic Cations Protect Methylammonium Lead Iodide Perovskites against Small Exciton-Polaron Formation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2020
Working organic–inorganic lead halide perovskite-based devices are notoriously sensitive to surface and interface effects. Using a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT methods, we report a comprehensive study of the ...

Auto-passivation of crystal defects in hybrid imidazolium/methylammonium lead iodide films by fumigation with methylamine affords high efficiency perovskite solar cells [PDF]

open access: yesNano Energy, 2019
Hybrid perovskite solar cells have attracted tremendous interest in the photovoltaic community. Despite their high defect tolerance, reducing the trap density by material engineering and surface modification is still critical to further boost performance.

Dalton Transactions, 2023
In this paper, MABr/CuBr and FABr/CuBr systems (MA+= methylammonium and FA+= formamidinium) were comprehensively studied: the existence of five novel phases MACu2Br3, FA2[Cu4Br6], MACuBr2, FACuBr2, and FA3CuBr4was established.

The compatibility of methylammonium and formamidinium in mixed cation perovskite: the optoelectronic and stability properties

Nanotechnology, 2020
Abstract The methylammonium (MA) and formamidinium (FA) are the most commonly used organic cations in perovskite solar cells (PSCs), whereas the impact of size and polarity differences between these two on the photovoltaic performances has been rarely revealed.

Molecular dynamics of the methylammonium cation in [CH3NH3]5Bi2Cl11

Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, 1993
The 1H relaxation times T1 of methylammonium in chlorobismuthate(III) were measured in the temperature range from 50 to 270 K with a SXP 4/100 Bruker pulse spectrometer at 55.2 MHz. It was found that the T1 temperature dependence has three minima. The individual relaxation rates of the three-proton groups can be described by the O'Reilly and Tsang ...

Synthesis of halide perovskite microwires via methylammonium cations reaction

Frontiers of Materials Science, 2020
Low-dimensional halide perovskites (HPs) have received considerable attention in recent years due to their novel physical properties such as compositional flexibility, high quantum yield, quantum size effects and superior charge transport. Here we show room temperature solution synthesis of 1D organic-inorganic lead bromide perovskite microwires (MWs).
