Ultrasonic assisted adsorption of methylene blue using blood clam shell as a low-cost adsorbent

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Methylene blue is a synthetic dye used in various industries, such as wood, linen, and silk. Generally, as much as 10–200 mg/L of methylene blue is released into the environment and potentially polluting the environment.

A Naphthalimide‐Based NIR‐Emissive AIE Photosensitizer for Synergistic Apoptosis/Ferroptosis‐Mediated Antitumor Therapy and Broad‐Spectrum Bacterial Inactivation With Rapid Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An ionic naphthalimide AIE photosensitizer (PS), TPAPV‐NIM‐M, anchors to cellular and bacterial membranes, emits in the far‐red/near‐infrared (NIR) region, and efficiently generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) under white light. Its membrane‐localized photodynamic action drives apoptosis/ferroptosis‐mediated tumor suppression and broad‐spectrum ...

Drug diffusion as indicated by methylene blue. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Two rats were implanted with pumps filled with 0.25% methylene blue to indicate the diffusion field of pump-delivered drugs. The diffusion coefficient of methylene blue was 85% that of the drug cocktail average diffusion coefficient.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

Bioorthogonal Photoactivation of 2‐Nitrobenzyl Caged Doxorubicin Anticancer Prodrugs on Gold Nanostars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.
