Wettability versus roughness of engineering surfaces [PDF]
Wetting of real engineering surfaces occurs in many industrial applications (liquid coating, lubrication, printing, painting, ...). Forced and natural wetting can be beneficial in many cases, providing lubrication and therefore reducing friction and wear.

Resonant Microcantilevers for the Determination of the Loss Modulus of Thin Polymer Films [PDF]
The increasing interest in polymer materials creates the need for accurate tools to characterize their mechanical properties. Due to energy dissipation in polymers during deformation, these materials exhibit viscoelastic behavior.

A strategy for tuning the cross‐linking density in molecular layer deposition (MLD) films is demonstrated by leveraging the double reaction and nonring‐opening pathways of ε‐caprolactone. Using this approach, hafnium–ε‐caprolactone MLD film exhibits intrinsic water solubility.

Friction as a probe of surface properties of a polymer glass
We probe the temperature dependence of friction at the interface between a glassy poly(methylmethacrylate) lens and a flat substrate coated with a methyl-terminated self-assembled monolayer.

Designing Physical Unclonable Functions From Optically Active Materials
Assigning unforgeable “fingerprints” to manufactured goods is a key strategy to fight global counterfeiting. Optical physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are chemically generated random patterns of optically active materials serving as unique authenticators.

For bioelectronic applications, organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), with their mixed ionic and electronic conduction, will be invaluable for interfacing with living systems. This review examines the latest research, which has shifted towards integrating OECTs in logic circuits capable of transducing and processing bio‐signals.
