Analysis of genes involved in methanol oxidation in methylobacterium extorquens

open access: yes, 2001
In methylotrophic bacteria such as Methvlobacterium extorauens methanol is oxidised to Armaldehyde by methanol dehydrogenase (MDH) located in the periplasm. From MDH the electrons are passed along an electron transport chain including 2 cytochromes (cytochrome Cl and cytochrome ch) and finally to a terminal oxidase.
