Effect of long‐term voclosporin treatment on renal histology in patients with active lupus nephritis with repeat renal biopsies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective This study characterized the impact of voclosporin on kidney histology in patients with lupus nephritis (LN) who had protocolized repeat kidney biopsies in the AURORA clinical trials. Methods Patients were randomized to voclosporin or placebo treatment for up to three years; all patients received mycophenolate mofetil and low‐dose ...

Population pharmacokinetic modelling of prednisolone in systemic lupus erythematosus patients: Analysis of exposure and disease activity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Prednisone is a widely used glucocorticoid in the treatment of lupus, although its dosing is often determined empirically. Prednisolone, the active metabolite of prednisone, is found in its free form in the serum. The goal of this study was to develop a population pharmacokinetic model in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE ...

Voclosporin‐induced gingival enlargement: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Drug‐influenced gingival enlargement (DIGE) is a recognized adverse effect of certain medications, particularly immunosuppressants like cyclosporin and tacrolimus. However, there have been no documented cases of DIGE associated with voclosporin, a newer calcineurin inhibitor used primarily to treat lupus nephritis.

Galactose‐Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles Targeting Membrane Transporters for the Glutathione Delivery to Brain Cancer Cells

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Glutathione‐functionalized gold nanoparticles are shown to reduce radicals in SH‐SY5Y and C6 cells. Conjugation of galactose to the outer shell improves internalization through the GLUT transporter, thus providing a smart multivalent system able to reduce oxidative stress in neuroblastoma and rat glioma cells.
