The Degradation and Bioactivity of Metolachlor in the Soil

Weed Science, 1986
In bioassays, rice (Oryza sativaL.) recovery from metolachlor [2-chloro-N-(2-ethyl-6-methylphenyl)-N-(2-methoxy-1-methylethyl)acetamide] injury tended to be slower in flooded rice, but was not significantly different from the recovery rate in a nonflooded rice. In soils treated with 1 ppm (w/w) metolachlor and incubated in constant-temperature chambers,

Volatilization of metolachlor from water

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 1995
Abstract The volatilization of metolachlor [2‐chloro‐N‐(2‐ethyl‐6‐methylphenyl)‐N‐(2‐methoxy‐l‐methylethyl)acetamide]from water was studied in the laboratory and in an outdoor open‐channel experiment. As expected, volatilization was not significant at temperatures ≤ 25 °C.

Metolachlor stereoisomers: Enantioseparation, identification and chiral stability

Journal of Chromatography A, 2016
Metolachlor is a chiral herbicide consisting of four stereoisomers, which is typically used as a racemic mixture or is enriched with the herbicidally active 1'S-isomers. Because studies on the enantioselective behavior of phyto-biochemical processes and the environmental fate of metolachlor have become significant, a practical method for analyzing and ...

SORPTION BEHAVIOR OF METOLACHLOR, ISOPROTURON, AND TERBUTHYLAZINE IN SOILS

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2001
The sorption-desorption of metolachlor [2-chloro-N-(ethyl-6-methyl phenyl)-N-(2-methoxy-1-methyl ethyl) acetamide], isoproturon [3-(4-isopropyl phenyl)-1,1-dimethyl urea] and terbuthylazine [N6-tert butyl-6-chloro-N4-ethyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine] herbicides was studied in two German soils at 1:10 soil to water ratio by batch method.

Microbial dechlorination of the herbicide metolachlor

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1991
The objective of the present study was to examine four microbial strains for their ability to dechlorinate metolachlor, to isolate and identify the formed products, and to determine the mechanism of transformation.

Metolachlor Transport in Surface Runoff

Journal of Environmental Quality, 1990
AbstractIn 1987 metolachlor [2‐chloro‐N‐(2‐ethyl‐6‐methylphenyl)‐N‐(2‐methoxy‐1‐methylethyl) acetamide] was applied to a 5.5‐ha corn field in southern Ontario, Canada, in two separate areas—as a preemergence surface spray with cross‐contour plowing and as a pre‐plant incorporated treatment with contour plowing.

Degradation of Metolachlor in Crude Extract ofAspergillus Flavus

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2004
Crude enzyme from a soil fungus, Aspergillus flavus, was isolated from a field soil following repeated applications of metolachlor [2-Chloro-N-(methoxy-1-methylethyl)-2'-ethyl-6'-methyl acetanilide]. Metolachlor hydrolysis by the crude enzyme extract was determined by enzyme assay.

Field History and Dissipation of Atrazine and Metolachlor in Colorado

Journal of Environmental Quality, 2007
ABSTRACTFarmers in eastern Colorado have commented that atrazine does not provide the length of weed control that they expected in fields that have received multiple applications of the herbicide. Multiple laboratory studies suggest that atrazine dissipates more rapidly in soils with a history of atrazine use compared with soils that had not been ...

Dissipation and Residue of S-metolachlor in Maize and Soil

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2008
The purpose of this article was to establish a simple residue analysis method for S-metolachlor in maize and to study its dissipation and residue in maize field eco-system. The results showed that S-metolachlor declined rapidly in maize seedling and soil after application. The half-lives of S-metolachlor in maize seedlings in Beijing and Changchun were

[Effects of pesticides metolachlor and S-metolachlor on soil microorganisms in aquisols. II. Soil respiration].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2007
An incubation test on the soil microbial respiration as affected by 0, 5, 20, and 100 mg x kg(-1) of metolachlor and S-metolachlor (Dual Gold) showed that at the early period of incubation, 5 mg x kg(-1) of metolachlor had a stronger stimulation effect on the respiration than 5 mg x kg(-1) of Dual Gold, but after then, metolachlor presented an ...
