A New Determination of the Ratio of the Imperial Standard Yard to the International Prolotype Metre
The method employed for the determination of the ratio involves the use of a subsidiary line standard which is specially graduated in main intervals of 1 1/8 inches. The graduations define a number of approximate yard and metre lengths, 32 main intervals

Procedures to prevent the occurrence of potentially dangerous situations during the operation of the Mackereth 1-metre mini or short sediment corer [PDF]
During the 1950s and 1960s, F.J.H. Mackereth developed and published plans for a series of pneumatic samplers for lake sediments. Unfortunately, as the equipment was continually evolving during ensuing research, no user manuals, beyond the original ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation
