The Gromov-Hausdorff Metric on the Space of Compact Metric Spaces is Strictly Intrinsic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
It is proved that the Gromov-Hausdorff metric on the space of compact metric spaces considered up to an isometry is strictly intrinsic, i.e., the corresponding metric space is geodesic. In other words, each two points of this space (each two compact metric spaces) can be connected by a geodesic.

COMP Report: CPQR technical quality control guidelines for use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography in radiation treatment planning

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Positron emission tomography with x‐ray computed tomography (PET/CT) is increasingly being utilized for radiation treatment planning (RTP). Accurate delivery of RT therefore depends on quality PET/CT data. This study covers quality control (QC) procedures required for PET/CT for diagnostic imaging and incremental QC required for RTP.

Fuzzy b-Metric Spaces: Fixed Point Results for ψ-Contraction Correspondences and Their Application

open access: yesAxioms, 2020
In this paper we introduce the concepts of ψ -contraction and monotone ψ -contraction correspondence in “fuzzy b -metric spaces” and obtain fixed point results for these contractive mappings.

Some results for multivalued mappings in extended fuzzy b-metric spaces

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
In this paper, some fixed point results for multivalued contractions are established in setting G-complete extended fuzzy b-metric spaces. An example is furnished to demonstrate the validity of results.

Ultrametricity and metric betweenness in tangent spaces to metric spaces

open access: yesP-Adic Numbers, Ultrametric Analysis, and Applications, 2010
The paper deals with pretangent spaces to general metric spaces. An ltrametricity criterion for pretangent spaces is found and it is closely related to the metric betweenness in the pretangent spaces.

A small footprint couch‐top support device for image‐guided radiotherapy of heavy patients

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose Patients with body weights close to or above 400 lbs present unique challenges in radiation therapy since the weight limit of most treatment couches decreases as the couch‐top extends toward the treatment gantry. The purpose of this work was to develop a small footprint couch‐top support platform to safely perform image‐guided ...

A metric space associated with probability space

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1993
For a complete probability space (Ω,∑,P), the set of all complete sub-σ-algebras of ∑, S(∑), is given a natural metric and studied. The questions of when S(∑) is compact or connected are awswered and the important subset consisting of all continuous sub ...

Partial b_{v}(s) and b_{v}(θ) metric spaces and related fixed point theorems [PDF]

open access: yesFACTA UNIVERSITATIS (NIS), Ser. Math. Inform., Vol. 35, No 3 (2020), 621-640, 2018
In this paper, we introduced two new generalized metric spaces called partial b_{v}(s) and b_{v}({\theta}) metric spaces which extend b_{v}(s) metric space, b-metric space, rectangular metric space, v-generalized metric space, partial metric space, partial b-metric space, partial rectangular b-metric space and so on. We proved some famous theorems such

The application of multiple metrics in deformable image registration for target volume delineation of breast tumor bed

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background and purpose For postoperative breast cancer patients, deformable image registration (DIR) is challenged due to the large deformations and non‐correspondence caused by tumor resection and clip insertion. To deal with it, three metrics (fiducial‐, region‐, and intensity‐based) were jointly used in DIR algorithm for improved accuracy ...

A new extension to the controlled metric type spaces endowed with a graph

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2021
In this paper, we initiate a new extension of b-metric spaces, called controlled metric-like spaces, by changing the condition [ ℘ ( s , r ) = 0 ⇔ s = r ] by  [ ℘ ( s , r ) = 0 ⇒ s = r ] $$ \bigl[\wp (s,r)=0 \Leftrightarrow s=r\bigr]\quad \text{by ...
