THE METRIC SYSTEM. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1901
"Frenchmen have beheaded their king, declared there is no God, and are now trying to enforce the metric system!" said a member of the English parliament in the course of an alleged argument against the system. This is a fair sample of the arguments advanced against it. It is not my purpose to make any extended argument in favor of it.

On Constant Metric Dimension of Some Generalized Convex Polytopes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2021
Metric dimension is the extraction of the affine dimension (obtained from Euclidean space Ed) to the arbitrary metric space. A family ℱ=Gn of connected graphs with n≥3 is a family of constant metric dimension if dimG=k (some constant) for all graphs in ...

On the topology of the chain recurrent set of a dynamical system

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2014
n this paper we associate a pseudo-metric to a dynamical system on a compact metric space. We show that this pseudo-metric is identically zero if and only if the system is chain transitive.

The observability and controllability metrics of power system oscillations and the applications

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
Power system oscillation has caused many serious accidents in renewable energy grid connection system. The concept of observability and controllability in control theory has been widely applied to power system oscillation study.

The Generalized Iterated Function System and Common Attractors of Generalized Hutchinson Operators in Dislocated Metric Spaces

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2023
In this paper, we present the generalized iterated function system for the construction of common fractals of generalized contractive mappings in the setup of dislocated metric spaces.

THE METRIC SYSTEM. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1887
ABSTRACT Dear Sir: On May 8, 1872, it was resolved in the Section on Materia Medica and Chemistry "that the inclusion of the decigram and of the cubic centimetre in the list of officinal weights and measures is considered as desirable, and tending to the advance of medical science." On May 5, 1875, the American Medical Association adopted a resolution ...

Critical review of the levelised cost of energy metric

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Industrial Engineering, 2016
The purpose of this paper is to critically review the ‘levelised cost of energy’ metric used in electricity project development. This metric is widely used, because it is a simple metric to calculate the cost per unit of electricity for a given ...

Stability Metric Based on Sensitivity Analysis Applied to Electrical Repowering System

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Stability metrics are used to quantify a system’s ability to maintain equilibrium under disturbances. We did not identify the proposition of a stability metric using sensitivity analysis within the literature. This work proposes a system stability metric
