A Simulation Model for Small Aircraft Fuel System Design

open access: yesTechnologia i Automatyzacja Montażu, 2023
An aircraft fuel system is responsible for storing, managing and properly delivering fuel to the engines. Fuel systems models areused to simulate various configurations and analyse how the system respondsto different flight conditions and ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Metric cotype [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Mathematics, 2006
We introduce the notion of cotype of a metric space, and prove that for Banach spaces it coincides with the classical notion of Rademacher cotype. This yields a concrete version of Ribe's theorem, settling a long standing open problem in the nonlinear theory of Banach spaces. We apply our results to several problems in metric geometry.

Health effects associated with chewing tobacco: a Burden of Proof study

open access: yesNature Communications
Chewing tobacco use poses serious health risks; yet it has not received as much attention as other tobacco-related products. This study synthesizes existing evidence regarding the health impacts of chewing tobacco while accounting for various sources of ...

Insights into the burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region: a crucial step towards evidence-informed and targeted public health interventions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant but very complex global health issue, making it difficult to accurately determine its full impact.

Finsler metrics and CPT

open access: yes, 2010
The role of Finsler-like metrics in situations where Lorentz symmetry breaking and also CPT violation are discussed. Various physical instances of such metrics both in quantum gravity and analogue systems are discussed.

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using
