Extremal K\"ahler metrics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper is a survey of some recent progress on the study of Calabi's extremal K\"ahler metrics. We first discuss the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture relating the existence of extremal metrics to an algebro-geometric stability notion and we give some ...

‘They Need to Hear You Say It’: Healthcare Professionals’ Perspectives on Barriers and Enablers to End‐of‐Life Discussions With Adolescents and Young Adults With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT End‐of‐life conversations with adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer rarely occur without the guidance of healthcare professionals. As a part of the ‘Difficult Discussions’ study, focused on palliative care and advance care planning discussions with AYAs with cancer, we investigated the factors that healthcare professionals identify ...

Extremal metrics and K-stability

open access: yes, 2006
We propose an algebraic geometric stability criterion for a polarised variety to admit an extremal Kaehler metric. This generalises conjectures by Yau, Tian and Donaldson which relate to the case of Kaehler-Einstein and constant scalar curvature metrics.

Semantic Metrics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In the context of the Semantic Web, many ontology-related operations, e.g. ontology ranking, segmentation, alignment, articulation, reuse, evaluation, can be boiled down to one fundamental operation: computing the similarity and?or dissimilarity among ontological entities, and in some cases among ontologies themselves. In this paper, we review standard

Metric cotype [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Mathematics, 2006
We introduce the notion of cotype of a metric space, and prove that for Banach spaces it coincides with the classical notion of Rademacher cotype. This yields a concrete version of Ribe's theorem, settling a long standing open problem in the nonlinear theory of Banach spaces. We apply our results to several problems in metric geometry.

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Funding and services needed to achieve universal health coverage: applications of global, regional, and national estimates of utilisation of outpatient visits and inpatient admissions from 1990 to 2016, and unit costs from 1995 to 2016

open access: yesThe Lancet Public Health, 2019
Summary: Background: To inform plans to achieve universal health coverage (UHC), we estimated utilisation and unit cost of outpatient visits and inpatient admissions, did a decomposition analysis of utilisation, and estimated additional services and ...

METRICS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Metrics are a sine qua non condition of an efficient management. Indeed, management cannot be based upon intuition: it has to be underpinned by figures.\ud \ud The choice of the indicators, their link to objectives and their strategic value, the weight ...
