[Experiences with the metroplasty].

Report on 34 metroplasties between 1955 and 1980 at the women's hospital in Halle. 20 patients postoperatively delivered 24 children. One patient is pregnant at present. There were 6 abortions. A spontaneous delivery is possible if there are no additional indications for caesarean section.

Indications and results of metroplasty in uterine malformations

AbstractDuring 14 years, 430 women with some type of congenital uterine malformation were discovered by different methods, with a rate of 1 in 137 deliveries. In only 17 was metroplasty indicated, because of very poor reproductive performance; out of 42 desired pregnancies, only 14.3% live births resulted. The abortion rate was 65.2%, and there were 13%

Pregnancy outcomes following Tompkins metroplasty

Eighteen patients with poor reproductive histories and 2 patients with primary infertility underwent Tompkins metroplasty for a septate uterus. There were 19 pregnancies within 2 years of surgery, and 11 patients had at least 1 viable pregnancy, for an overall success rate of 55%. One of the infertile patients conceived and delivered.

Thirty-three patients were diagnosed by hysterosalpingography and laparoscopy as having septate uteri, which were assumed to be responsible for their infertility, recurrent abortions, or premature labor. Fourteen of these had Tompkins metroplasty (group 1) while the other 19 had their repairs done by hysteroscopic metroplasty (group 2).
