Adaptive independent Metropolis--Hastings

open access: yes, 2009
We propose an adaptive independent Metropolis--Hastings algorithm with the ability to learn from all previous proposals in the chain except the current location. It is an extension of the independent Metropolis--Hastings algorithm.

Metropolis Methods for Quantum Monte Carlo Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Since its first description fifty years ago, the Metropolis Monte Carlo method has been used in a variety of different ways for the simulation of continuum quantum many-body systems.

Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Crystal Growth: A General Framework for Anisotropic Crystal Growth in Cu‐Based Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Growth (CMDLG) framework is established to rationalize the anisotropic growth of lead‐free perovskites. Integrating coordination chemistry with mass transport kinetics, this study theoretically derives and experimentally validates that stable iodocuprate complexes induce a diffusion‐limited regime.

Sampling from Rough Energy Landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1905
We examine challenges to sampling from Boltzmann distributions associated with multiscale energy landscapes. The multiscale features, or "roughness," corresponds to highly oscillatory, but bounded, perturbations of a smooth landscape.

General heatbath algorithm for pure lattice gauge theory

open access: yes, 2010
A heatbath algorithm is proposed for pure SU(N) lattice gauge theory based on the Manton action of the plaquette element for general gauge group N. Comparison is made to the Metropolis thermalization algorithm using both the Wilson and Manton actions ...

Comprehensive Understanding of Accelerated Kinetics Driven by Anion–Diluent Dynamics Enabling Wide Temp Operation in Dual‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The transient interactions between TFSI− anions and a diluent within an anion‐dictated electrolyte are revealed, which can reduce interfacial reorganization energy, thereby accelerating ion kinetics and markedly facilitating sustainable anion storage in high‐voltage graphite cathodes for dual‐ion batteries at fast charge and wide temperature range ...

Disseminated Histoplasmosis presenting as oropharyngeal mass lesion

open access: yesMedical Mycology Case Reports, 2019
A 62 year old man from Silchar in North East India presented with complaints of painful swallowing, hoarseness, fever, anorexia and weight loss. Oropharyngeal examination revealed reddish ulcero-nodular lesion involving left tonsillar area and base of ...

Architecture of an All‐In‐One Microfluidic Platform for Accelerated Cancer Seeding, Enhanced Spheroid Formation, and Dynamic Drug Screening Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one microfluidic platform consists of two‐layered PDMS channels integrated with a hydrogel microwell array. This platform enables flow‐driven tumor cell capture, enhanced spheroid formation within the microwells, and advective drug testing. ABSTRACT Effective cancer drug screening requires platforms that replicate the physiological complexity

Optimal scaling for partially updating MCMC algorithms

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we shall consider optimal scaling problems for high-dimensional Metropolis--Hastings algorithms where updates can be chosen to be lower dimensional than the target density itself.
