Effect of alloying on the properties of Mg?Gd alloys
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1979Alloy IMV7 of the Mg−Gd−Y−Mn system has high ultimate strength and long-term strength and can be used as a structural material for operation at room and elevated temperatures (up to 350°).

AZ91D magnesium alloy and Al metal were bonded successfully at 450 oC with load of 25 or 31 MPa by using Mg-Al eutectic alloy as the solder in atmosphere. The microstructure of the AZ91D/Al joints was characterized by SEM equipped with EDS, and the bond strength was measured through three-point bending test.

Abstract The roles of rare earth elements on the texture weakening of Mg alloy are critically assessed. Two main roles are (i) the changing of stacking fault energy of Mg and (ii) the enhancement of solute drag of grain boundaries and dislocations.

Natural aging of Mg–Gd and Mg–Tb alloys
physica status solidi (a), 2012AbstractSubstantial natural aging occurring on the time scale of less than 1 month was observed in solution‐treated Mg–Gd and Mg–Tb alloys. Solution treatment at 500 and 530 °C for Mg–Gd and Mg–Tb alloys, respectively, leads to dissolution of Gd or Tb in the Mg matrix.

Biodegradable Mg and Mg based alloys for biomedical implants
Materials Science and Technology, 2014Mg and its alloys become natural biomaterials as the elemental Mg is found in the human body in abundance and their mechanical properties being akin to the natural bone as well as due to their inherent bioabsorbable/bioresorbable property. This paper discusses the development of new Mg alloys and their corrosion characteristics in detail.

The Microstructures of As-Cast Mg-Zr and Mg-Mn Alloys
Materials Science Forum, 2005The as-cast microstructures of two dilute Mg-Zr and three dilute Mg-Mn alloys were studied using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, including EDX analysis. The results show that the as-cast microstructure of the Mg-Zr alloys was composed of non-dendritic, equiaxed Mg grains, with a few Zr particles within the Mg grains and along grain
