The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

MgO Saturation Analisys of CaO-SiO2-FeO-MgO-Al2O3 Slag System [PDF]
Electric arc furnace (EAF) slag has a range of functions, including improving energy efficiency through the "slag foaming" phenomenon. As such, the study of slag is important in EAFs. One of the factors that determine foaming quality and efficiency is the presence of solid particles.

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Synthesis, structural, dielectric and optical properties of chitosan-MgO nanocomposite
Chitosan (CS) was used as a powerful chelating agent and an excellent template for synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs). The CS-MgO nanocomposite film was prepared by adding 10%wt of MgO relative to CS and was characterized by different ...

MgO nanoparticles (NPs) and carbon dots (C-dots) were synthesized by co-precipitation and hydrothermal techniques. In the next step, as-synthesized NPs were modified by C-dots. Then, polyethylene glycol (PEG) was conjugated with MgO/Cdots.

Room-temperature perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of MgO/Fe/MgO ultrathin films [PDF]
We used the anomalous Hall effect to study the magnetic properties of MgO/Fe(t)/MgO(001) structures in which the Fe thickness t ranged from 4 Å to 14 Å. For the iron deposited at 140 K, we obtained perpendicular magnetization at room temperature below the critical thickness of tc = (9 ± 1) Å.

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed
