The methanol extract of Guettarda speciosa Linn. Ameliorates acute lung injury in mice

open access: yesBMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, 2020
Background Guettarda speciosa is mainly found in tropical areas in Asia. Although G. speciosa is traditionally used to treat some of the inflammatory disorders, the experimental evidence supporting the anti-inflammatory effect of G.

Ignition resistance of CaO added Mg-3Al, Mg-6Al and Mg-9Al Eco-Mg alloys

open access: yesJournal of the Korea Foundry Society, 2011
Molten magnesium alloys and magnesium products are easily oxidized and burned when they are exposed to high temperature for manufacturing process and by accident. In order to solve these problems, CaO addition in magnesium alloys has been developed.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Comparison of the adsorption behavior of melphalan anti-cancer drug on MgS nano-cage: A DFT study

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
The adsorption behavior of melphalan anti-cancer drug on the MgS nano-cage surface was investigated using DFT and TD-DFT methods by B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. From the obtained adsorption energies of MEL/MgS complexes (I-III), it was determined that

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Corrosion behaviours of Ti6Al4V-Mg/Mg-Alloy composites

open access: yesCorrosion Science, 2020
Abstract The effect of coupling of unalloyed Mg and Mg-alloys (AZ91 and WE43) with Ti6Al4V alloy on corrosion and degradation behaviours of produced composites has been investigated in simulated body fluid (SBF) by hydrogen evolution, and surface and electrochemical characterization techniques.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Remuneration of Ancillary Services from Microgrids: A Cost Variation-Driven Methodology

open access: yesEnergies
Microgrids (MGs) have emerged as pivotal players in the energy transition by enabling the efficient integration of distributed energy resources and the provision of ancillary services to the power system.
